Noel, the son of the late former lawmaker Jang Je-won and a rapper, reacted to the news of Kanye West's canceled performance in South Korea.
On the 19th, Noel shared the announcement of the cancellation of Kanye West's concert on his social media, adding the comment "Thank you."
In a subsequent post, Noel shared, "Actually, the concert on the 31st is for Yong-jun," followed by a "ㅋㅋ," promoting his own performance schedule.
Originally, on May 31st, a concert titled "BULLY" by YE (Kanye West), in collaboration with Coupang Play, was scheduled to take place at Incheon Munhak Stadium. This concert was to be YE's solo concert in nine years since the 2016 world tour, marking the first live performance of the new song "BULLY" for Korean fans.
However, YE has been embroiled in controversy over antisemitic remarks and praise for Nazis. According to recent reports, he shocked many by releasing a song praising the dictator Hitler. On the 8th, which marks the anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe, he released the single "Heil Hitler," and the song was subsequently blocked on major streaming sites like Spotify.
As a result of the continuing controversy, the concert organizer Coupang Play announced on the 19th, "Due to the recent controversies surrounding singer Kanye West, the 'YE concert' scheduled for May 31st (Saturday) has unfortunately been canceled," thus canceling the first solo concert in Korea.
