'The Seasons - Park Bo-gum's Cantabile' grants a moving and exciting experience by crossing genres such as ballad, band sound, and K-pop.
In the KBS 2TV music talk show 'The Seasons - Park Bo-gum's Cantabile,' which aired on 16th, singers Jeong Seung-hwan, BIBI, the band May, and the group BOYNEXTDOOR grants filled the Friday night with richness.
The premium vocal Jeong Seung-hwan, who carries on the legacy of K-ballad, adorned the first stage by singing 'You Fool.' Known as 'Antenna's Park Bo-gum,' Jeong Seung-hwan said, "I feel so grateful. I really tried to avoid this, but I'm honored to meet you," while mentioning the commonality that he and Park Bo-gum served in the military in the same area, claiming they are doppelgängers, creating laughter. Jeong Seung-hwan shared that after finishing military service, he has been preparing new songs and playing soccer, while Park Bo-gum, worried about Jeong Seung-hwan's injury, jokingly said, "When you want to rest, I will take over your events," bringing about more laughter.
Marking his 10th anniversary this year, Jeong Seung-hwan remarked, "When I debuted, I was given the title 'Ballad Seson.' Now that I've entered my 30s, I think I truly need to become someone who suits that title," as he poured emotions into live performances of Rosé's 'Toxic Till the End' and his new album track 'Let's Meet Again on the Spring Road with Cherry Blossoms.' He then showcased a dance dedicated solely to 'The Seasons - Park Bo-gum's Cantabile,' presenting a contrasting charm. Finally, Jeong Seung-hwan expressed, "The mere fact that I have spent 10 years is moving and fortunate," adding, "I hope that Jeong Seung-hwan the singer will be loved even more than Jeong Seung-hwan's songs," hinting at active future activities.
BIBI presented an exotic and captivating stage with Bobby Caldwell's 'What You Won't Do for Love.' Reflecting on her achievements last year, when she balanced music and acting, and earned over 10 trophies, BIBI said, "What happened last year feels like watching a movie. Thanks to everyone for loving my acting and singing, my insecurities melted away like snow," and expressed her gratitude. Additionally, BIBI showcased a live performance of her profound favorite, Jeong Mi-jo's 'National Route 7,' and Park Bo-gum completed a special stage by shaking an egg shaker in time with the music.
Returning after 2 years and 6 months with her second full album, BIBI attracted attention by explaining the unique world of the album featuring 'Eve' and 'Eve-1.' She then chose 'Did You Come and Go?' as her most cherished song, revealing, "Last year, I missed my grandfather's memorial day because of my Coachella performance," and shared that the song contained experiences from a dream where her grandfather appeared. BIBI followed up with a live performance of 'Did You Come and Go?' refreshing the atmosphere with an upbeat melody. She also revealed that the title track 'Bookstore Oppa Literature Girl' contained her childhood unrequited love experience, delivering a groove-filled stage.
The segment 'Nights of Stars' featured the band May. Consisting of Kwak Ji-hyun (synthesizer), Jang Tae-woong (lead guitar), and Ryu Ji-ho (vocals and guitar), May caught attention by announcing their first appearance on terrestrial television after 7 years since their debut. They shared that they could not sustain themselves solely through music and had been juggling various jobs, including lifeguard and barista, encouraging one another by saying, "We've done nothing we haven't tried." Particularly, Ryu Ji-ho disclosed, "My original dream was to be a comedian. I even applied to KBS auditions," but shared the backstory that he ended up pursuing a career as a singer due to his connection with the members.
Notably, all members of May are 'Marine Corps veterans,' which drew surprise. They instantly looked for audience members who were also Marines and continued a relay of salutes, making everyone laugh. May concluded with the stage of 'Cherry Roman Candle,' expressing, "There were dreams we had when we had nothing in our underground studio. 'The Seasons' was the music program we most wanted to appear on, and we are grateful to have made our dreams come true together today," with heartfelt remarks, while Park Bo-gum also supported and encouraged May's journey.
BOYNEXTDOOR appeared as the final guest, singing 'I Love You Today.' They introduced themselves, saying, "Since our debut, we've been personally writing and composing our songs, naturally embedding our personalities into the music as a team," and mentioned, "We released 24 songs, and participated in all except 3," showcasing their identity as a 'self-produced group.' Park Bo-gum praised BOYNEXTDOOR, stating, "There are some songs that are hard to come across easily," complimenting their wide spectrum of genres.
BOYNEXTDOOR presented their stage of 'I've Never Liked Like This Before' for the first time on broadcast, delivering a lyrical sentiment. Park Bo-gum admired, "The ballad feel is really nice." Furthermore, Park Bo-gum shared group hugs with the members and sent video letters to each of their mothers, creating a warm scene. Next, BOYNEXTDOOR delivered a snippet of the killing part of their new song 'I Feel Good,' and Park Bo-gum garnered enthusiastic reactions from the members by incorporating the 'Haksshi vocal style.'
