Channel A's "Brain Academy" reveals the true identities of six "entertainment industry brains."
Premieres on May 29 (Thursday) at 10 p.m., Channel A's "Brain Academy" features a team of six representatives from the entertainment industry, led by Jun Hyun-moo, who aim to win "knowledge medals" by answering high-quality quizzes posed by South Korea's top scholars. Each week, a master representing a particular field will introduce advanced-level quizzes, and during the process, the six members of the "Brain Family" are expected to provide beneficial laughter with their chemistry as "true friends."
In connection with this, the production team raised interest in the main broadcast by showcasing a teaser video revealing the true identities of the participants. The teaser, recently released on Channel A's official social media and YouTube, vividly captures the moment when the six "entertainment industry brains" meet the production team for the first time and undergo a "pre-test."
In the teaser, Jun Hyun-moo greets the production team and is the first to take the "pre-test." After receiving the test papers, Jun Hyun-moo, although saying, "I don't like this stuff," eagerly solves the problems, astonishing the production team with his quick response to language-related questions, as expected from a "three-time champion" of the media examination from Yonsei University. With newfound confidence, Jun Hyun-moo boldly asks, "Who are the other brains?" and cheers enthusiastically at the mention of Ha Suk-jin's participation. Shortly after, Ha Suk-jin attempts the "pre-test," showcasing his sharp knowledge across various fields such as politics, technology, psychology, and economics, leaving everyone in awe.
On the other hand, Jun Hyun-moo expresses a contradictory reaction towards the science communicator Orbit, who is a Yonsei University astronomy student and has 1.29 million subscribers. Upon learning of Orbit's inclusion, he remarks, "That guy is over the top," bringing laughter to the scene. Oblivious to this, Orbit displays his articulate nature during the pre-meeting, exclaiming, "How cool would it be to ask, 'Do you know the speed of light?' on a blind date?"
Unlike Orbit, Jun Hyun-moo has high praise for another "brain," the only female member, Yoon So-hee. She is a gifted "entertainment industry brain" who graduated early from a science high school and majored in biotechnology at KAIST. Notably, she had a stellar performance in the second season of "Devil's Plan," capturing Jun Hyun-moo's attention.
Shortly after, Yoon So-hee, who participated in the "pre-test," skillfully solves difficult science problems while providing uninterrupted explanations. Following her, Lee Sang-yeob, holding a Level 1 Korean History certification, impressively answers history questions during the "pre-test" based on his life as a "history enthusiast," further adding to the amazement. Finally, when Jun Hyun-moo hears the name of the last member, comedian Hwang Je-seong, he jokingly asks, "Is that guy smart?" eliciting laughter.
Upon hearing this, Hwang Je-seong expresses his frustration, saying, "Why do they think it's all lies?" He emphasizes, "(During school) I almost scored perfect in chemistry. I never missed an A+ when I attended Sungkyunkwan University." In reality, he graduated sixth in his high school class and achieved a top rating in mathematics on the national college entrance exam, planning to showcase his new charm through "Brain Academy."
The teaser, which is heating up online, promotes the knowledge challenge quiz show "Brain Academy" on Channel A, featuring the "hexagonal" brains, set to premiere on May 29 (Thursday) at 10 p.m.
