Choi Soo-young led "Second Shot at Love" with her blossoming acting skills.
In the second episode of the tvN Monday-Tuesday drama "Second Shot at Love" (written by Myung Su-hyun and Jeon Ji-hyun / directed by Jang Yu-jung / planned by Studio Dragon / produced by How Pictures), which aired on the 13th, the character Geum-joo (played by Choi Soo-young) was depicted as someone who causes accidents.
In a drunken state, Geum-joo falls onto the road, nearly colliding with the car of Ui-jun (Gong Myoung), who is approaching. Startled by the sudden appearance of Geum-joo, Ui-jun hurriedly swerved the car but ended up crashing into a wall, resulting in him having to wear a cast on his leg. Ui-jun billed Geum-joo for the damages caused by the accident, and instead of repaying the money, Geum-joo volunteered to be Ui-jun's driving assistant, taking care of him. Geum-joo helped Ui-jun in multiple ways, from farming tasks to machinery repairs and housework.
Although Geum-joo and Ui-jun grew closer while spending time together, a mishap occurs when a birthday cake for her ex-boyfriend Ju-yeob (played by Yoo Ui-tae), whom she had reserved before breaking up, gets mistakenly delivered to his house. Realizing this too late, Geum-joo heads to Seoul to retrieve the cake, putting her promise with Ui-jun on hold and ultimately confronting her ex-boyfriend Ju-yeob and his new partner. Instead of apologizing for the situation, Geum-joo, furious at Ju-yeob's reprimanding attitude, throws the cake at his face, drinking again out of frustration and forgetting her new year's resolution. When she unexpectedly runs into Ui-jun outside her home, he misunderstands her for breaking their appointment to drink and gets angry, leaving Geum-joo unable to express her miserable circumstances, instead saying, "I wanted to be a good person too, but it just doesn't happen," evoking sympathy.
Choi Soo-young portrayed Geum-joo, who has internal scars despite her bright exterior, realistically, eliciting viewer support. While she brings laughter with her unique quirkiness affecting those around her, she also evokes sympathy by concealing her wounds deeply. Moreover, she brings a sense of thrill by acting impulsively when necessary and excellently conveys the chemistry with Gong Myoung, who plays Ui-jun, keeping viewers intrigued about the budding romance between the two.
Meanwhile, the tvN Monday-Tuesday drama "Second Shot at Love," starring Choi Soo-young, airs every Monday and Tuesday at 8:50 p.m.
