The group ILLIT is set to perform at the 'ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL 2025', Japan's largest music festival, becoming the first K-pop girl group to do so.
According to Belift Lab on the 14th, ILLIT (Yoona, Minju, Mocha, Wonhee, Iroha) has been named in the first lineup for the 'ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL 2025', which will be held at Soga Sports Park in Chiba, Japan, from September 13-15 and 20-21.
The 'ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL' is one of Japan's four major rock festivals, celebrating its 26th year this year, boasting a scale so large that 275,000 people attended last year's performance.
The lineup for the 'ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL' is composed mainly of top local artists. So far, Korean artists CNBLUE and ENHYPEN have also performed. ILLIT has proven its rapidly rising popularity locally by being invited to this festival, despite not having released an official album in the area. ILLIT is set to ignite the heat of the Japanese archipelago on stage on September 14, the second day of the festival.
ILLIT, since its debut in March last year, swept various music charts and short-form platforms in Japan with 'Magnetic'. Based on this achievement, ILLIT received the Rookie of the Year award at the 66th Japan Record Awards and won the most awards (3 wins) among K-pop female artists at the 39th Japan Gold Disc Awards. Additionally, they showcased their presence by appearing on various famous broadcasting programs, including the NHK 'Red and White Song Festival', a leading end-of-year festival in Japan.
ILLIT's first original song in Japan, 'Almond Chocolate', released in February, has also received a positive response. Made as a theme song for a local movie, this song gained unexpected popularity two months after its release, thanks to word of mouth. 'Almond Chocolate' reached 10th place on the 'weekly streaming ranking' of the Oricon chart (March 31 - April 6), which is the highest achievement among K-pop girl group songs released this year.
ILLIT will continue its upward trend by holding its first fan concert, '2025 ILLIT GLITTER DAY IN JAPAN', at Pia Arena MM in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, from August 10-11, and at Osaka Castle Hall in Osaka from September 3-4. Prior to this, they will meet domestic fans at '2025 ILLIT GLITTER DAY IN SEOUL', held at Olympic Hall in Olympic Park, Songpa District, Seoul, on July 7-8.
