Hwang Jung-eum expressed her thoughts on remarriage while being 'single'.
In the episode aired on the 13th, the SBS Plus and E Channel entertainment program 'Single' featured Hwang Jung-eum enjoying a 'filial date' with her father, who lives in Jeju.
On that day, Hwang Jung-eum waited for her father at Gimpo International Airport with her two sons, Wang-sik and Gang-sik. She personally came to meet her father, who had flown up from Jeju. Hwang Jung-eum said in response to the question, 'What kind of person is dad?' 'Dad? He's really the support that has allowed me to continue this tough life in the entertainment industry so far.'
Previously, Hwang Jung-eum revealed, 'I grew up in a divorced family, but I am very close to my mom and dad. (My dad) filled my deficiencies with love.' Though she had been separated from her father since the 3rd grade of elementary school, Hwang Jung-eum said she often saw him and spoke on the phone every day.
Hwang Jung-eum shared, 'I always got to see him whenever I wanted, and he always took me somewhere. When I wanted to catch fish by the stream, he removed all the rocks so that I could catch fish.' She further explained, 'He was the kind of father who taught me that 'if you try, you can do anything.' I learned the spirit of OTOKI from my dad.'
In particular, Hwang Jung-eum said, 'My dad moved to Jeju because of me. During the difficult time of the divorce, I went down to Jeju with Wang-sik to relax for a bit, but it was hard to raise a child there alone. At that time, my dad came and stayed. He came to help me, but he matched perfectly with Jeju, so he stayed there while I returned to Seoul. It has already been 5 years since I've been living in Jeju.'
On the other hand, Hwang Jung-eum chose an ophthalmology clinic as the first date course with her dad. Her father, who does not have good vision and gets regular check-ups every three months, received a late-stage glaucoma diagnosis in his left eye. Moreover, the doctor mentioned that since glaucoma runs in families, Hwang Jung-eum, who had worsened eyesight after giving birth, should undergo tests in the future.
After finishing the eye examination, the two enjoyed their date further. Hwang Jung-eum noted, 'I like that my dad dresses stylishly,' and purchased a total of 7 outfits at a clothing store, astonishingly paying 2.17 million won in a four-month installment plan.
At the last date course, Hwang Jung-eum spent enjoyable moments taking pictures with her father against the backdrop of the sunset over the Han River on a yacht. During this time, she reminisced about her childhood, recalling how her parents came together to love and care for her even after the divorce.
She added, 'I also want to do that with my ex-husband for the kids. For that time, it was something with style,' while saying, 'Even at that time, my mom was an open woman. After my first divorce, I joked, 'How good is it? After my divorce, the world seemed to be in HD.'
Her father remarked, 'When I got divorced the first time, I thought it would be good to just let it go since there were kids involved. I believe the second divorce was a wise decision.' In response, Hwang Jung-eum said, 'Before my marriage, my dad told me, 'You can know the water's depth, but you can't know a person's heart.' My dad is like a ghost. When I meet a boyfriend, I should introduce him to my dad. If my dad says no, then it's a no.'
Above all, Hwang Jung-eum asked, 'Is it better for me to remarry or not to remarry?' Her father replied, 'Don't do it. It's absolute. You should do what you want too. It's good to have a friend you can share a glass of wine with at night. Just be responsible as a mom without any discrepancies. And be nicer to your mom than to me.' To that, Hwang Jung-eum firmly stated, 'I have no intention of remarrying.'
