Kim Soo-min, a broadcaster and the youngest former announcer of SBS, revealed her honest feelings.
On the 13th, Kim Soo-min opened up on her social media, saying, 'They say children are a blessing, but I just found it overwhelming.'
She explained the meaning of her book titled 'Can This Loneliness Be a Blessing?' by stating, 'The time spent together was mostly lonely. The question of how loneliness can be a blessing inspired this title.'
She continued, 'This is a piece about the time spent raising children, but I didn't want to be confined by the category of parenting books or the title of a mother writer, so I tried to share various topics and multiple layers of reflections.' She also revealed the reason for having held onto the concept of 'still being me' for a long time.
Kim Soo-min said, 'It took about 2 years for this book to come out. Writing was truly difficult,' adding, 'It was a writing period filled with the realization that essays can only be literature.' She expressed her hope that, beyond her experiences of parenting, this would become something anyone could reflect themselves in.
She noted, 'When it seemed like there was nothing next, I met the children and realized that I had already been a mother's 'next,' and the children were my 'next.'' She added, 'I wrote hoping that just by being in the moment, we can be enough.'
In particular, Kim Soo-min expressed gratitude for the recommendations from poet Ahn Mi-ok and Sayuri, saying, 'This text is no longer mine; it belongs to you all, so I hope you enjoy it to the fullest. I love you.'
Meanwhile, Kim Soo-min gained recognition as the 'youngest announcer in SBS history' by joining SBS as a 24th announcement in October 2018 at the age of 21. After leaving the company in 2021 to focus on her studies, she married a prosecutor five years her senior in 2022 and welcomed her first son that same year, later announcing the birth of her second daughter in May of the previous year.
