The group Seventeen (S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, Dokyeom, Seungkwan, Vernon, Dino) announces their spectacular rebirth with the new song "THUNDER."
Seventeen revealed the tracklist for their 5th studio album "HAPPY BURSTDAY" through a video posted on the team's official social media on the 13th at 10 p.m. Accordingly, the new album consists of 3 group songs and a total of 16 tracks, which include individual songs by the 13 members. This marks the largest number of new songs in any Seventeen album to date.
The title track "THUNDER" is a song that metaphorically expresses members who have been reborn as distinctive beings expanding their own worlds, likening it to thunder and lightning. The song was co-written and composed by Woozi, who is the core producer of Seventeen's music, and Beomju, with S.Coups also credited as a composer.
The first track "HBD" is an abbreviation for "Happy Birthday." The intense birthday celebration music from the members, signaling their rebirth on the occasion of their 10th debut anniversary, is highly anticipated. Another group song, "Bad Influence," catches attention with its glamorous credits. Renowned artist and producer Pharrell Williams, who has won awards at the Grammy Awards 13 times, was responsible for the lyrics, composition, and production.
The solo tracks also gather attention. This is the first time Seventeen has included solo songs from all its members in a new album. The titles of the songs highlight the members' personalities: "Skyfall" by DK, "Fortunate Change" by Joshua, "99.9%" by Wonwoo, "Raindrops" by Seungkwan, "Damage (feat. Timbaland)" by Hoshi, "Shake It Off" by Mingyu, "Happy Virus" by Dokyeom, "Fate" by Woozi, "Shining Star" by Vernon, "Gemini" by Jun, "Trigger" by Dino, "Accidental Encounter" by Jeonghan, and "Jungle" by S.Coups.
Led by the hit-makers Woozi and Beomju, who have produced numerous hits for Seventeen, the members have also actively participated in creating songs, enhancing the musical completeness. In addition to Pharrell Williams, legendary producer Timbaland, who has collaborated with famous pop stars like Madonna, Mariah Carey, and Sam Smith, has contributed. Moreover, well-known producers such as Pdogg, Vincenzo, and EL CAPITXN, along with musician Ha Hyun Sang, have collaborated to create an album worthy of the 10th anniversary of their debut.
The tracklist is designed from the perspective of fans (CARAT, the fandom name) invited to Seventeen's rebirth party, stimulating curiosity. The video depicts discovering stickers with the titles of each song one by one while exiting a phone booth outside the party venue. The eerie atmosphere suggests an unusual story that is about to unfold, as if lightning could strike at any moment.
Seventeen's 5th studio album "HAPPY BURSTDAY" predicts their rebirth, symbolized by the album name that combines the word "Birthday," which means birthday, and the English word "Burst," which signifies explosion, outburst, and beginning, indicating new possibilities exploding. They plan to hold a "BURST Stage" on the 25th, a day before the album's release on the 26th, at the Jamsu Bridge in Seoul, to elevate the comeback atmosphere.
