Singer Han Hye-jin confessed to the devastating sexual harassment she endured during her unknown days.
On the program aired on Channel A on 12th, Han Hye-jin candidly talked about the painful experiences she had to endure during her unknown days.
Han Hye-jin recalled, "At that time, I took about ten days off out of the 365 days in a year. I rested that day since it was 6th June, a day when nightclubs closed for Memorial Day." However, even though she worked hard, success did not come easily. "I thought I just had to release albums. But my first, second, and third albums all failed," she revealed, sharing her continuous frustration.
In particular, she noted, "My father even sold fields and farms to help with album production. At that time, there were rumors in the countryside that the daughter of that house was ruining the family. A few hundred million won 40 years ago would be an enormous amount by today's standards," she said, unable to hide her feelings of guilt.
One day, Han Hye-jin, who had gone out for a performance stage at a large supermarket, had to stand on a cola box in the middle of the crowd with no stage to perform. She said, "At that time, I felt a lot of humiliation."
Above all, the most shocking experience was the sexual harassment she faced at a stand bar. Han Hye-jin explained, "At the stand bar, the height of the table was the same as the stage. The customers were probably drunk and found me pretty. Suddenly, a man came up to me and put money into my chest without saying a word. At that moment, all my pride crumbled," she recounted, leaving those around her silent.
She said, "If it were now, I would have questioned, 'Why are you putting it here?' but back then I was too young and sang while crying. The audience applauded me to stop crying. I can't forget that scene to this day."
Yet, she did not give up. She stated, "When I told my father that I would quit being a singer, he said, 'If you're going to do something, you have to do it to the end; it's not easy.' Eventually, my father sold the orchard to support me one last time."
The song that she worked so hard to create was 'Brown Memories,' which brought Han Hye-jin to stardom. She shared, "While singing 'Brown Memories,' I cried a lot. I felt that I finally became a daughter my father could be proud of. My father was really proud of me," leaving a deep impression.
