Singer Harim announced that he received a notice of cancellation for an invitation to an event hosted by a national organization.
Harim posted a lengthy message on his Facebook on the 13th, stating, "At this time when the wounds of martial law have not yet completely healed, I received a sudden notice of cancellation for an invitation to an event hosted by a national organization just a few days away."
He expressed, "The reason is that I sang in the square last year. The situation that followed, which led to a noisy interview, seems to have been uncomfortable for someone. Am I afraid to sing because I have many sins?"
He added, "Seeing the plight of the embarrassed organizer apologizing and knowing that there are innocent staff members, I said it was okay, but for the sake of my colleagues and juniors who sang together later, I feel this kind of thing is not right, so I leave this here."
He also stated, "Since it is an event related to North-South youth, despite the low guarantee, I decided to participate, and since the poster has already been made, I wonder if the higher-ups are aware that making this kind of decision will inevitably lead to another misunderstanding like a blacklist." He conveyed, "Friends, the more this happens, the more we should continue to sing about love, resistance, and freedom."
Harim took the stage at a rally calling for the impeachment of former President Yoon Suk-yeol held in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, last December.
