MBC's representative entertainment program 'Born to Travel the World Season 4' (directed by Kim Ji-woo, hereinafter 'Taegeilju4') made a successful return, capturing both viewership ratings and OTT popularity following its first broadcast, which received overwhelming reactions. It also demonstrated figures that far surpass the viewership ratings of the final episode of the previous entertainment program G-Dragon's 'Good Day'.
The first episode aired on May 11 (Sunday) night recorded a 2049 viewership rating of 2.3% and a peak viewership of 3.6% (Nielsen metropolitan area criteria), breaking the all-time record for the first episode in the 'Taegeilju' series. Immediately after the broadcast, it ranked first on Netflix's 'Top 10 Series in Korea Today' and first in the institutional sector of Wavve, proving its competitiveness with a strong response on both TV and digital platforms. (As of May 12)
In the first broadcast, Kian84, who started his journey alone on the Chama-godo in the Nepal Himalayas, transformed into a 'Korean Sherpa' while climbing high mountains with Sherpas. His appearance climbing steep mountain paths with over 30 kg of luggage on his forehead drew deep immersion and empathy from viewers, leading to praise such as 'a documentary beyond entertainment' and 'Kian84 was truly impressive.' The authentic journey characterized by the title 'Unplanned, Close to Locals' sparked both enjoyment and emotional engagement among viewers, creating strong word-of-mouth.
Moreover, through the official YouTube channel 'Taegeilju Base Camp', videos related to 'Taegeilju4' TV broadcasts as well as unreleased videos and various content are being revealed, providing viewers with another layer of enjoyment.
In the upcoming second episode airing on May 18 (Sunday), Pani Bottle, Lee Si-eon, and Dex will finally join in earnest, promising to deliver a 'complete chemistry of the death penalty system' and a more dynamic journey.
Meanwhile, 'Taegeilju4' airs every Sunday night at 9:10 p.m., and the second episode will be broadcast at 10 p.m. due to a special election broadcast scheduling.
