Park Byeong-eun from 'Dear Hongrang' referred to his character and Eom Ji-won as "show window couple."
On the morning of the 13th, a production presentation for the Netflix series 'Dear Hongrang' was held at the Grand Ballroom on the 2nd floor of the Ramada Hotel in Sin Dorim, Guro-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by lead actors Lee Jae-wook, Jo Bo-ah, Jung Ga-ram, Eom Ji-won, Park Byeong-eun, and director Kim Hong-seon.
'Dear Hongrang,' based on the popular novel 'Dear Hongrang: Swallowing Gold' by writer Jang Da-hye, is a mystery melodrama set in a historical context. It depicts the son Hongrang (played by Lee Jae-wook) of the greatest merchant group of Joseon, who returns after 12 years with amnesia, while only his half-sister Jae-i (played by Jo Bo-ah) suspects his true identity, highlighting the unknown emotions blossoming between them. Anticipation is high as director Kim Hong-seon, known for Netflix's 'Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area,' the occult drama 'The Guest,' and the series 'Voice,' collaborates with writer Kim Jin-a from Apple TV+'s sci-fi thriller 'Dr. Brain.'
In addition to Lee Jae-wook and Jo Bo-ah, Jung Ga-ram plays Mu-jin, who spent 12 years as the adopted son of the Min-sang group in place of the missing Hongrang, while Eom Ji-won portrays Min-yeon, the lady of the Min-sang group with her own ambitions, and Park Byeong-eun plays Hongrang and Jae-i's biological father, Shim Yeol-guk, who leads the Min-sang group.
In the drama, Park Byeong-eun and Eom Ji-won appear as a couple and share scenes together.
Park Byeong-eun said, "Although Shim Yeol-guk and Min-yeon appear to be a couple on the outside, Min-yeon is a character who possesses wealth and power and is ambitious. They come across as a 'show window couple' like in the Joseon era. (laughs) The two engage in a power struggle and ongoing conflicts. To constantly bring the situation to their side, their rivalry flips back and forth. I think that will be a significant source of entertainment for viewers and they will be curious about it."
Eom Ji-won, who plays a high-ranking character from the Joseon dynasty, added with a smile, "Apart from Jae-wook here, there is no one else I can share a meal with."
Meanwhile, 'Dear Hongrang' will be released on Netflix in over 190 countries worldwide on the 16th.
