JYP Entertainment's boy group NEXZ has released a performance video for the new track 'Simmer' and showcased their image as the 'next-generation performance powerhouse.'
NEXZ (Tomoya, Yuu, Haru, Soken, Seita, Huey, Yuki) made a comeback on the 28th of last month with their mini-album 'O-RLY?' and its title track of the same name. Ahead of the official album release, they unreservedly pre-released the music video for the second track 'Simmer,' revealing extraordinary confidence. On the afternoon of the 12th, they posted the 'Simmer' performance video on their official SNS channel, gathering attention once again. In this video, NEXZ showcased a well-rounded concept, outfits, and choreography, completely satisfying fans. From styling that reinterpreted school uniforms in a hip and casual way to performances directly produced by members Tomoya, Yuu, and Haru, they drew viewers in with their captivating charm.
'Simmer' is a culinary term that refers to cooking at a temperature just below boiling, and the new song utilizes this concept to metaphorically express rising tension amidst a taut atmosphere, showcasing a hip-hop track. NEXZ infused their bubbling energy, ambition, and passion into unique sound sources, lyrics, and fast-paced rapping. During their first week back, they performed 'Simmer' alongside their title track 'O-RLY?' on KBS 2TV's 'Music Bank,' MBC's 'Show! Music Core,' and SBS's 'Inkigayo.' They showcased both the bouncy, carefree appeal of 'O-RLY?' and the stylish, restrained atmosphere of 'Simmer,' attracting positive reviews from viewers.
NEXZ has been actively continuing their career with their first comeback work 'O-RLY?' in 2025, setting several 'first debut' records. The title track hit No. 1 on the Bugs real-time chart on the afternoon of its release, bringing the joy of their first domestic music chart No. 1. The album topped the weekly physical album chart of Hanteo Chart (2025.04.28-2025.05.04) and the Circle Chart's weekly album chart and retail album chart (2025.04.27-2025.05.03). Additionally, on the 9th, NEXZ was nominated for 1st place on a domestic music show for the first time on KBS 2TV's 'Music Bank,' and on the 11th, Tomoya, Huey, and Yuki appeared as guests on SBS PowerFM's 'Park So-hyun's Love Game,' making their debut on domestic radio. Notably, on the same day, leader Tomoya showcased his vibrant presence as a special MC on SBS's 'Inkigayo,' while the members celebrated member Huey's birthday during an interview and performed dazzling performances, including their group's special feature of breakdancing.
Meanwhile, the 'K-pop rookie' NEXZ, shining their distinct presence in music broadcasts and YouTube content, will appear today (13th) at 1 p.m. on MBC FM4U's 'Noon Hope Song with Kim Shin-young,' showcasing their impressive Korean language skills and wit.
