The drama 'Haunted Palace' has captured the attention of Asian viewers.
On May 12, according to the weekly chart for the first week of May (April 28 to May 4) released by Viu, Asia's largest regional OTT platform, the SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Haunted Palace' (English title: The Haunted Palace) ranked second in both Hong Kong and Thailand, third in Indonesia, and fourth in Singapore and Malaysia, entering the top four in five Asian countries.
'Haunted Palace' is a K-mystery historical drama in which a shaman named Yeori (Kim Ji-yeon), who rejects the fate of a medium, and her first love, Yoon-gap (Yook Sung-jae), who is possessed by the dragon spirit Gang-cheol, confront a palace ghost with a grudge against the royal family. The fantasy romance between the dragon spirit and the shaman, the court mystery, and the K-beast setting harmonize, creating an original narrative.
The lead actors, including Yook Sung-jae from the group BTOB and Kim Ji-yeon from WJSN, are all 'acting idols' with a global fan base, attracting high interest from local fans. In particular, Kim Ji-yeon previously recorded top-tier results with 'Pyramid Game,' which was also serviced by Viu, drawing attention to the consecutive hits.
Meanwhile, Viu is a Hong Kong PCCW regional OTT platform that showcases popular Korean content in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. It is currently preparing to launch new works, including 'Pump Up the Healthy Love,' 'Crushology 101,' and 'Eagle 5 Brothers.'
