Singer Cho Jang-hyeok, who opposed the impeachment of former President Yoon Suk-yeol, criticized the People Power Party.
On the 10th, Cho Jang-hyeok posted on his social media, saying, "The People Power Party has lost the right to criticize the Democratic Party as of today."
He continued, "Elders who have been in politics all their lives could not lead the unification of the presidential candidates democratically and changed the candidate abruptly in the early morning. It is full of the atrocities of old age, and I feel embarrassed, but aren't the elders also ashamed in front of the young people of this country?" He added, "It is a very sad day."
Earlier, the leadership of the People Power Party attempted to replace Kim Moon-soo, the presidential candidate elected through an internal party primary, with former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, but the plan was thwarted by objections from party members. Ultimately, Kim Moon-soo was confirmed as the official presidential candidate of the party on the 11th.
Cho Jang-hyeok debuted in 1996 with his first regular album, "Even If You Leave," and became known for several hit songs including "Addicted Love," "Love Is Over," "A Day More Painful Than Parting," "Love," and "Change."
He has revealed his so-called 'conservative tendencies' several times through social media. In the 2022 presidential election, he publicly supported Yoon Suk-yeol, who was then the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, and in March, when President Yoon was released from detention, he posted the message "Justice for the Righteous."
