Comedian couple Son Min-soo and Lim Ra-ra are finally becoming parents after revealing their struggles with infertility.
Lim announced the pregnancy news on her official social media on the afternoon of the 11th, saying, "A baby has also come to us!" She expressed her overwhelming feelings, saying, "It feels like a dream and I still can't believe it." The published photo captures the couple holding a pregnancy test and baby clothes with bright smiles.
Lim said, "Our joy may feel like another disappointment to other couples struggling with infertility, so I feel very sorry for that," adding, "Because I understand that feeling so well, I will always support and pray that miraculous moments always accompany them."
Lim Ra-ra and Son Min-soo began their public relationship as a couple in 2014 and have gained significant popularity by showcasing various couple content on YouTube under the name 'Enjoy Couple.' Notably, Lim had publicly declared herself an advocate for a non-marriage lifestyle, yet surprised many by marrying Son Min-soo in 2023 after 10 years of dating.
After becoming a married couple, the two continued to communicate through YouTube and broadcasts but have expressed their struggles during the 'pregnancy' process. They previously opened up about their infertility and reasons for halting activities on their YouTube channel, 'Enjoy Couple.' According to them, they hoped to naturally have a child after marriage, but after six months of trying, they ultimately failed to conceive naturally. Lim, who has passed the age of 35, admitted that she was medically classified as 'infertile' and experienced significant physical and mental stress.
At the time, Lim said, "I couldn't tell anyone how painful the ovulation ultrasound was or how devastating it felt to experience failure through menstruation," and she shed tears. Her husband, Son Min-soo, also revealed, "I wasn't a perfect husband. We became emotionally charged with each other, and we fought the biggest fight we've had in 12 years."
Overwhelmed by physical fatigue and emotional distance, the couple ultimately paused their work to focus on rebuilding their relationship. They eventually decided to undergo in vitro fertilization, during which they managed to restore their relationship and find psychological stability. Lim stated, "In vitro fertilization reduces stress from uncertainty since you just follow what the doctor tells you," adding, "While I cautiously hope that our joy won't become another's disappointment, I wish for it to be a small hope for someone."
The couple, who had shared their infertility treatment preparation process through YouTube several times, announced the joyous news after about two years of waiting. Fans showered the pregnancy announcement post with over 16,000 'likes' within just an hour of its publication.
