Actress Kim Bo-ra (30) officially announced her separation from director Jo Ba-reun (36) just 11 months after their marriage, and her recent status update and past interview have once again become a topic of discussion.
On the 9th, Kim Bo-ra stated through her agency, Noon Company, "After careful consideration and ample discussion, we have amicably completed the divorce process by mutual agreement," and she requested, "Please refrain from indiscriminate speculation and sensational reporting."
The next day, on the 10th, Kim Bo-ra posted a brief message saying "The end" along with photos taken at the 26th Jeonju International Film Festival. She appeared on stage at the closing ceremony alongside actor Kang Gil-woo, and she was seen moving around the event with a bright smile, showing her relaxed side at a drinking gathering with colleagues.
What particularly caught attention was a paper with the phrase "We were happy." It seems to suggest the end of the film festival, but it was interpreted as a metaphorical message from her after experiencing the conclusion of her married life, touching the hearts of her fans.
In fact, Kim Bo-ra was an actress who had high hopes for marriage and childbirth. In an interview with OSEN in April 2023, she said, "Going through difficulties with a loved one seems to be love and happiness," expressing her honest desire to "quickly become a mother."
At that time, she also mentioned, "I think becoming a mother will broaden my acting range. My future hope was to be a devoted wife," and added, "The emotions after becoming a mother in my 20s will all seem different once I become a complete adult. That's why I wanted to turn 30 quickly."
Perhaps because of this, her divorce from director Jo Ba-reun, whom she married in June of last year after three years of dating, evokes even more regret. The two met through the film "Gwegi Mansion" in 2021 and continued a private relationship before becoming a couple. However, their married life did not last even a year before they went their separate ways.
Shortly after the divorce announcement, she shared a brief message on social media. It appeared calm on the surface, but deep and complex emotions were intertwined. Fans are sending messages of support, saying "Stay strong," "We always support you," and "You are still a shining actress."
Meanwhile, Kim Bo-ra debuted in 2005 with the drama "Wedding" and has been noted for her delicate acting in dramas such as "SKY Castle," "Her Private Life," and "Finda," as well as films like "Moral Sense" and "Ghost at Oksu Station." Director Jo has directed works such as "Gwegi Mansion" and "Blow a Black Wind," and won the Best Short Film award at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival in 2017.
