In Channel A's 'Heart Pairing', the newly introduced 'Mackerel Man' Sang-yoon began to disrupt Jeyun without mercy, delivering an unprecedented 'romantic chaos' to the 'Pairing House.'
In the 9th episode of Channel A's dating program 'Heart Pairing' that aired on Nov. 9, the new resident Sang-yoon entered the 'Seoul Pairing House', where Woojai, Jeyun, Jimin, Jiwon, Chan-hyung, Chang-hwan, Chaeun, and Haneul lived, vividly broadcasting the changes taking place and elevating the immersion to its peak. After his surprise appearance in front of the eight residents, Sang-yoon entered the 'Pairing House' and made a bold advance toward Jeyun by asking her out on a date from the first night, confirming their similar values and personalities through their date and casting an immense sense of crisis on Jimin, who was the 'one who was brushed aside.' Meanwhile, Chan-hyung, who had been labeled as '0 votes' the day before, and Chaeun, who had suffered from the flu and had not been very active, confirmed their mutual affection through a belated date, providing a new 'dopamine shower' by scratching the 'romantic lottery.'
Afterwards, the backstory unfolded following the arrival of the 'Mackerel Man' Sang-yoon. Amidst a peculiar tension, the existing eight residents introduced their professions to Sang-yoon, who revealed that he is a 'six-year model.' Right after that, Sang-yoon shared, "I am from Busan and played baseball until my third year in college," establishing a unique bond with Jeyun, who is also from Busan, and Woojai, who played soccer there. Finally, when asked about his 'ideal type,' Sang-yoon stated, "Someone who has their own values and loves their work," and when asked, "Is there someone who resembles your ideal type in first impressions?" he quickly answered, "Yes," concluding his self-introduction. Upon returning to the 'Pairing House,' Sang-yoon's 'Pairing Book' was newly placed, prompting the female residents to dive in for thorough reading, while Sang-yoon, having organized his belongings, went straight to find Jeyun, the protagonist of the 'Pairing Book' he chose, proposing to go on a date the next day.
As the day broke, the residents began to leave for work in turn, while Jeyun, remaining in the 'Pairing House,' asked Woojai, "What are you doing tomorrow afternoon?" requesting to meet. Immediately, Woojai informed Jiwon, who was his 'first contract dating' partner, saying, "I have an appointment with Jeyun" to ask for her understanding. Haneul also discussed her concerns about her relationship with Jimin, which was not going as she wished, with her older brother. After everyone had a busy day, Chaeun, who returned after work, had a belated 1:1 meeting with Chan-hyung, whom she had previously chosen as someone she wanted to date before contracting the flu. Guiding Chan-hyung to his 'favorite menu' restaurant, the 'Chicken with a Whole Chicken,' Chaeun expressed her direct liking by saying, "The person I was most curious about is you (Chan-hyung)," and while sharing their 'soul food,' they instantly set a lunch appointment by saying, "I want to introduce a delicious 'DAECHANG' place." The two, whose tension rose through their 'tiki-taka' interaction, shared deeper conversations over soju. When Chan-hyung confessed, "I received 0 votes in the (likable text) yesterday," Chaeun responded, "No, I texted you!" causing both to become 'frozen.' It turned out that Chaeun had mistakenly sent a message to Jimin instead of Chan-hyung. After solving the mystery of the so-called 'text incident,' the two exchanged phrases like, "I'm glad we met only now after a while," and "Let's get to know each other more from now on," planting the seeds of a new love line, and moved to a 'second' location to share their serious views on marriage, showing a closer mood.
At the same time, Jeyun went on a date with Sang-yoon. While in the car, Sang-yoon said, "From the moment I first read Jeyun's 'Pairing Book,' I felt it was very similar to my 'Pairing Book.'" In response, 'power introvert' Jeyun showed her vulnerability by admitting, "It was the first time someone chose my 'Pairing Book,' and I felt really good." They both expressed, "I would have written it the same way even if I wrote it again," confirming their respective 'T' (thinking type) personalities and continued their flowing conversations about each other's contents in their Pairing Books, such as 'dream car' and 'desired living area.' Later, Sang-yoon, preparing to open a law firm, attentively listened to Jeyun's story about her first venture as a 'lawyer,' saying, "I want to gather business funds through modeling work and eventually run a proper business," thus establishing realistic empathy with Jeyun. The two confirmed their similarities regarding the importance they place on achievement and their emotional independence, feeling thrilled as they stated, "I never thought we would have so many conversations on our first meeting, and it seems we got to know each other very quickly."
Jimin and Chang-hwan, the 'roommates on the first floor', expressed their disappointment over the 'Pairing House' situation where no one returned late in the evening, and shared a meal filled with bitterness. Amid a blossoming friendship, the 'Cheongseung Brothers' were formed on the spot, and when Haneul, who returned late, mentioned, "Jeyun and Sang-yoon are on a date," Jimin, realizing the situation belatedly, showed a profoundly disappointed expression. Haneul also could not hide her bitter face from Jimin's 'steel wall comment' that, "Your charm is making others comfortable." Eventually, Jimin, Chang-hwan, and Haneul all went into their room, while Woojai with Jiwon, Sang-yoon with Jeyun, and Chan-hyung with Chaeun arrived in turn. After finishing their dates, they shared an amicable conversation in the hallway, but feeling upset over Jeyun's date with Sang-yoon, Jimin stayed in his room hiding a photo with Jeyun and prepared to sleep, presenting a scene of 'laughing through tears.'
However, the next day, an opportunity came for Jimin as well. Starting a late evening 1:1 date with Jeyun, Jimin frankly expressed, "Don't laugh; I still hate you," but when Jeyun explained, "I was going to come to the room last night, but I felt like I might wake someone who has to leave early," Jimin couldn't help but smile. During their meal, Jeyun confessed, "I met Woojai oppa for lunch" and added, "I wanted to confirm my honest feelings," indirectly revealing she ended her 'something' with Woojai by saying, "I felt like I wasn't really myself when I'm with him, but I feel like my true self comes out more when I'm with you (Jimin)." Additionally, Jimin asked about Jeyun's date with Sang-yoon, to which Jeyun replied, "We mostly talked about the 'Pairing Book,'" prompting Jimin to express his continued 'bulldozer direct approach' towards Jeyun by saying, "What's the importance of the 'Pairing Book'? If you're attracted, just match it." After their date, while returning to the 'Pairing House,' the two revealed their surprisingly comfortable relationship by playfully teasing each other in the car. On their arrival at the 'Pairing House,' Sang-yoon was waiting for Jeyun. When asked by the residents about his first date review with Jeyun, Sang-yoon stated, "Younger is better~" strongly appealing to the advantages of being a younger man, and then requested Jeyun aside to thoughtfully present her with throat medicine, bringing 'repetitive tension' to Jimin.
