Highlight has reached No. 1 on music broadcasts with 'Chains.'
Highlight (Yoon Doo-joon, Yang Yo-seob, Lee Gi-kwang, Son Dong-woon) secured the top spot in the second week of May with the title track 'Chains' from their sixth mini album 'From Real to Surreal' during the KBS 2TV 'Music Bank' broadcast on the 9th.
On that day, Highlight shared their feelings about reaching No. 1 and their commitments through an interview before the stage. Lee Gi-kwang, who participated in writing and composing 'Chains,' said, "I have returned after more than a year, and I am grateful that the song I was involved in has received a lot of love from many people." Son Dong-woon noted, "Thanks to the Light, we have reached the No. 1 candidate, and I am very thankful," and Yang Yo-seob remarked, "It seems that the Light truly appreciates the efforts of Highlight, and we will continue to work hard." In particular, Yoon Doo-joon mentioned their No. 1 commitment, saying, "Like the song title, we will perform bundled together like a solid chain with the four of us."
On the main stage, Highlight captivated both eyes and ears with their deadly yet powerful choreography and vocal skills. Demonstrating limitless concept interpretation through upgraded visuals, unwavering vocal ability, and precise performance, they set a legendary stage.
Yang Yo-seob, who received the trophy after being named No. 1, said, "I dedicate this award to 'Music Bank' for giving us this wonderful prize and to the Light (the fandom name) who cheered for us day and night to bring us this trophy. I sincerely thank you." Yoon Doo-joon stated, "I am very grateful, and this time with the fans is precious and happy. I think it's a result of our efforts together, so I am even more grateful, and I would like to express my gratitude to the NEXZ members for providing a fair competition."
As promised, Highlight took the stage with their arms linked together. Greeting the artists who joined them on stage, Highlight also proved their solid live performance skills during the encore stage.
'From Real to Surreal' is an album where you can experience Highlight's ongoing spectrum expansion encompassing reality and unreality. It features the addictive hip-hop genre song 'Chains,' co-written and composed by Lee Gi-kwang, as well as the ballad 'No Ending,' which was pre-released under the team name Beast after nearly nine years, and a total of four high-quality songs including 'Good Day to You' and 'Follow Me,' each presenting different messages and moods, receiving positive reviews.
Meanwhile, Highlight is scheduled to actively meet with fans by participating in the 'KCON JAPAN 2025' stage from the 9th to the 11th at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture, Japan.
