Singer Nam Taehyun is under police investigation for driving under the influence during the probation period for drug use charges.
On the 8th, the Yongsan Police in Seoul stated that they are investigating Nam Taehyun for violating the Road Traffic Act (driving under the influence).
Nam Taehyun is accused of colliding with a central divider while trying to overtake the vehicle in front of him near Dongjak Bridge heading toward Ilsan on the Gangbyeonbuk-ro at around 4:10 a.m. on the 27th of last month. There were no casualties, and at the time, it is reported that Nam Taehyun's blood alcohol concentration was over 0.08%, which is the level for license suspension.
Previously, Nam Taehyun was indicted for using methamphetamine at the home of a businessman in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, in August 2022, and for using methamphetamine alone overseas in December of the same year. Subsequently, the court sentenced Nam Taehyun to one year in prison and two years of probation in January of last year.
The police applied for an arrest warrant against Nam Taehyun, who is under probation, but the court dismissed it.
Additionally, Nam Taehyun was involved in controversy over driving under the influence in March 2023. At that time, he was sanctioned for violating the Road Traffic Act (driving under the influence) and received a summary order for a fine of 6 million won.
