Kim Gu-ra disclosed the wedding gifts for the weddings of Kim Jong-min and Shim Hyun-seob.
On the 7th, a video titled "Kim Gu-ra's Cheongna House '2026 XXXX won?'" was posted on the YouTube channel 'GriGu-ra.'
In the released video, Kim Gu-ra said, "I went to two weddings on Sunday. One was for Mr. Shim Hyun-seob and the other for Mr. Kim Jong-min. In the morning, it was Mr. Shim Hyun-seob. He's 55 years old. We're the same age, and he got married."
Kim Gu-ra recalled, "(Mr. Shim Hyun-seob) said the wedding would be at 'Harim-gak'; there's a Chinese restaurant on the way to Samcheong-dong, but it's now changed to a wedding hall. I spent some time there before heading to the Shilla Hotel. The basic food cost is over 200,000 won. If you include the cost of flowers, it reportedly costs at least between 300 million and 500 million won. Basically, they should receive a minimum of 300,000 won in wedding gifts to be polite."
He continued, "Still, at least, the meaning of the wedding gift is to give some financial support to the person getting married. Giving 300,000 won is insignificant, especially since I attended two weddings. It can lessen the financial burden on the bride and groom, right? Moreover, these days, ceremonies last two hours, which causes the food costs to go up. I understand that the meal costs over 100,000 won even in Gangnam. But if I bring kids along and give only 300,000 won? This is a fact. At least around 500,000 won should be given."
In particular, Kim Gu-ra surprised viewers by stating, "To be honest, I spent 2 million won just on wedding gifts yesterday." He added, "But 200,000 won is quite a large sum, isn't it? There's something complex going on. People have a perception of me based on my stature. If I only give 300,000 won, that feels a bit off. Also, there's a comparison element in wedding gifts. People like Yoon Jong-shin and Kang Ho-dong will be there, right? They will surely give gifts of at least that amount. If I end up being the only one giving a low amount..."
He also elaborated, "Although I like Jong-min, my principle is to give 300,000 won. However, there was a bit of hesitation in my heart. To be honest, I usually give around 300,000 or a little more if I'm closer, maybe 500,000, but since Hyun-seob is my friend and Jong-min is a junior I frequently meet, I gave more." He then cautiously added, "Even ordinary people say that wedding gifts are burdensome. Overall, it seems that wedding gifts are experiencing a bit of inflation."
Meanwhile, on the 20th of last month, comedian Shim Hyun-seob and his 11-year-younger partner Jeong Yeong-rim held their wedding. On the same day at 6 p.m., a private wedding ceremony for Kim Jong-min and his 11-year-younger fiancée "Hiyung" took place at the banquet hall of the Shilla Hotel in Jangchung-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul.
