Actor Oh Kwang-rok reunited with his son after 7 years.
On the 6th, during the broadcast of TV CHOSUN's 'Dad and Me', actor Oh Kwang-rok appeared and announced his meeting with his son after 7 years.
The 44-year veteran actor Oh Kwang-rok introduced himself as the father of his son Oh Si-won. Oh Kwang-rok said, "When my son was 5 years old, Si-won's mother and I separated, and after that, we no longer lived together."
Oh Kwang-rok spoke about his current relationship with his son, noting, "It has been about 7 years since we last saw each other before COVID-19," and he remarked, "There have been no phone calls, and even if I text, there's no response," surprising those around him by stating that even when he reaches out first, his son does not respond.
In the past, Oh Kwang-rok received an 8-month prison sentence with a 2-year probation and 80 hours of community service for smoking marijuana in 2009. However, following an analysis by the National Forensic Service that ruled out the charges, the court decided on bail, leading to his release. Oh Kwang-rok's side filed another appeal, but it was dismissed.
On this day, Oh Kwang-rok faced his son Oh Si-won after 7 years. An awkward silence flowed between the father and son. Oh Kwang-rok's son said, "I think I was so angry about not talking to Dad that I kept avoiding contact," adding, "I was so angry that I didn't pick up the phone or reply. Dad and I have no bond."
His son stated, "Dad didn't have a presence in my life. I don't even know if he was actually there; it felt like he was less than nonexistent," and remarked, "There are many divorced families, but I've lived without expressing my true feelings."
His son spoke while showing tears, and father Oh Kwang-rok reacted, saying, "I didn't know. So I was taken aback," which drew attention.
