It has been 15 years since the late legendary singer Baek Seol-hee left us.
Baek Seol-hee passed away on May 5, 2009, at the age of 82. Today (the 5th) marks her 15th anniversary, and even now, as time has passed, her music is still remembered as an indispensable part of Korean popular music history.
Born in 1927, Baek Seol-hee is a legendary singer who left a lasting legacy in our country's music scene. As one of the representative female singers of the 1940s and 1950s, shortly after the liberation, she debuted in 1943 and was loved by the public with her hit songs such as "Spring Day Goes By," "Young Lady on the Ranch," and "The Riverbank Where the Waterbird Sings." She had four sons and one daughter with the late actor Hwang Hae, who passed away in 2005.
"Spring Day Goes By" especially stands out as one of the most beloved popular songs in Korea, leaving a deep resonance in the hearts of many through the late Baek Seol-hee's sweet and lyrical voice. Her vocal tone provided solace amidst war and devastation and continues to be referred to as the "voice of the nation's mother" even to this day.
Throughout her life, she dedicated herself not only to broadcasting and the stage but also to nurturing future generations, establishing herself as a "DAEMO" respected by many junior singers. Even in the 2000s, she appeared in various retrospective programs, spreading positive influence to future generations.
The late singer's son, Jeon Young-rok, who is also a singer and actor, has shown special affection for his mother through various broadcasts.
On the 15th anniversary of Baek Seol-hee, messages of remembrance and tribute are being shared among fans and musicians as they reflect on her music. Although her physical body has departed, her songs continue to live on in the playlists of many.
