In the 5th episode of the SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Haunted Palace' (written by Yoon Soo-jeong/directed by Yoon Seong-sik) broadcast on the 2nd, the appearances of Kang Cheol-i (played by Yook Seung-jae) and Yeori (played by Kim Ji-yeon) engaging in a rematch with the eight-legged ghost were portrayed.
On that day, Prince Yeong-in (played by Kim Seon-bin) was found dead in the palace due to the eight-legged ghost, while Kang Cheol-i sought help from Monk Gaseop (played by Lee Won-jong), asking, "You said that there's a powerful evil spirit called the eight-legged ghost that threatens this country. I can only temporarily hold it off with my power, but it's hard to completely eliminate it. Can you send that evil spirit to its afterlife?"
However, Monk Gaseop said, "Do you really not know the question? The only way to completely appease the grudge of such a powerful evil spirit is with either the dragon's precious orb or a luminous pearl like the one inside your body. Without these, the evil spirit's grudge will never be resolved."
He continued, "It involves your own sacrifice. As you said, you might be able to hold it off temporarily with the luminous pearl. You must completely exhaust the luminous pearl inside you and sacrifice yourself to truly send that powerful evil spirit like the eight-legged ghost to the afterlife. How about it? Are you willing to try?"
Hearing this, Kang Cheol-i retorted, "What kind of monk are you? Are you telling me to use up all my luminous pearl and kill myself just to catch some eight-legged ghost?" Despite his frustration, he went to find Yeori (played by Kim Ji-yeon) and declared he would become her body host.
That night, after finding her grandmother's weapon, Yeori told Kang Cheol-i, "As a disciple of the deity, I will serve you with all my heart and soul." In response, Kang Cheol-i said, "I, the serpent-like creature Kang Cheol-i, will accept you as my disciple and be your strong backing."

Ultimately, King Lee Jeong (played by Kim Ji-hoon) abandoned the beliefs he had upheld and reinstated Kang Cheol-i as an inspector to carry out a secret mission, instructing Yeori to remain in the palace as a direct artisan.
Yeori predicted that the eight-legged ghost would return on a day when the fire energy intensified and made all preparations. Then, she conveyed her grandmother's spear to Kang Cheol-i, saying, "I have heard that the luminous pearl that comes from the serpent-like body possesses tremendous power, if not as potent as the dragon's precious orb. I saw it on Mt. Bukak. Even that mighty eight-legged ghost could not exert its power in front of the luminous pearl. Soon, the two confronted the eight-legged ghost. Kang Cheol-i stabbed at the eight-legged ghost confined in the iron mesh with the spear but ultimately failed.
