Below is Jin Tae-hyun's full statement
Hello, I'm Jin Tae-hyun.
I hope everyone is doing well.
Before I knew it, it has been 2 years since I started professionally running marathons.
It feels like just yesterday that I completed my first marathon in 4 hours and 59 minutes.
But now I have entered the 3-hour 10-minute range.
I think I've trained really hard.
Every early morning, I pack my bag and small cooler.
Hanam Sports Complex, Namsan, Banpo Sports Complex, Olympic Park, the park in front of my house.
Hoenggye in Gangwon Province, Aewol in Jeju Island.
I've managed to run well without injury, breaking time down to NANO seconds.
If I train well this year, I should become a single runner by early next year at the latest.
Still, I have to achieve my marathon record, and the record will tell that.
If I fail, I can reflect on that failure and try again for a few months.
This year, it seems I might have a short physical and time break.
I don't know if I can do well, but I'm still gathering my motivation and dreaming slowly.
It is said that it takes 3 years to become a marathoner unless one is a naturally gifted athlete; since last fall's competition, I have had no pain in my body after finishing marathons, and I feel like I've finally become someone who can run 42k.
If I add some speed and gain a little more experience.
I will become a marathoner who knows how to run fast, right? ^^
I do not exercise to become famous from running or to announce my records.
I genuinely love running and admire world-class marathoners, especially I really like athletes like Asefa and Osako.
It is such a valuable hobby and a part of my life.
Many people show a lot of interest because of my special profession as a celebrity.
For me and my wife,
it is just a very personal and healthy hobby.
I want to keep running for a long time and participate in many competitions.
There are many great courses in Korea.
Gyeongju runs alongside historical sites, while Gunsan runs in harmony with nature.
Siheung lets you experience the paths by the sea, and Daegu has a very tough course.
Seoul is so filled with fighting spirit.
I also need to get to Chuncheon and try to participate in various competitions.
You all can achieve it like I did.
Originally, my goal was to complete a marathon in 4 hours.
Now, I arrive at the finish line more than 40 minutes earlier.
But there must be effort and sweat.
The same goes for our lives and profession.
Marathon running is good, and other sports are good too.
Give it a try.
You will experience truly dream-like events.
We have legs and butts,
so we can run.
2 years have passed, and I have entered my 3rd year.
I am truly grateful for running.
