Hollywood actor Jeremy Renner revealed the reason why season 2 of 'Hawkeye' has not been released.
On the 1st (local time), according to reports from foreign media outlets such as Variety, Jeremy recently stated in an interview with a media outlet that he was offered half of the salary from the first season of the Disney+ series 'Hawkeye.'
Jeremy said, "I was offered to appear in season 2, but they told me they would only give me half. I thought, 'For only half the money, I would have to work twice as hard, and (since it's physically demanding) I realized that I would actually have to work for 8 months to earn half the money.'"
He also claimed that the reason for the pay cut was the 'snowplow accident' that occurred in 2023. Jeremy Renner nearly lost his life after being struck by a snowplow weighing 6.49 tons on Jan. 1, 2023, suffering chest injuries and fractures. He has been focusing on recovering his health through multiple surgeries and physical therapy.
Jeremy expressed dissatisfaction, saying, "(The production company) seems to think that I'm only 'half Jeremy' because I nearly died after being hit by the car. That's why they want to give me only half of the salary I received in the first season."
He added, "I understand. This is neither Marvel's nor Disney's opinion. I think it's just a matter of accountants. However, I received an insulting offer, and I told them, 'X off.'" He did not rule out the possibility of returning to 'Hawkeye.'
He said, "Sadly, I still love that character. I still want to do 'Hawkeye,' but I had to defend myself. I didn't ask for more money. They just need to give me what I was offered in the first season. But that didn't happen, and it's really disappointing, but I'm okay with it. I would willingly let it go." He added, "I think my body right now would say thank you for not doing that job. But I guess we will see."
In relation to this, Variety sought a position from Marvel, but it is reported that they did not respond.
