Actress Ko Min-si challenges herself in her first romantic comedy through "Your Taste."
The Genie TV original "Your Taste" (creator Han Jun-hee, screenplay Jeong Soo-yoon, directed by Park Dan-hee), which will air for the first time on the 12th, tells the story of Han Beom-woo (played by Kang Ha-neul), an heir to a conglomerate who becomes a "recipe hunter" by acquiring a small restaurant to inherit food corporations, and Chef Mo Yeon-joo (played by Ko Min-si), who operates a no-name one-table restaurant in Jeonju, in a war-like kitchen romance.
In the drama, Ko Min-si plays the role of Chef Mo Yeon-joo, who, while running a fine dining restaurant called "Refinement," starts an irresistible connection with Han Beom-woo, a second-generation conglomerate who values appearance over the essence of food. In particular, she has gained much attention as she takes her first step into romantic comedy with "Your Taste," having showcased strong performances in every project.
Ko Min-si noted her choice of "Your Taste" as her first romantic comedy, saying, "I'm excited to greet you with my first romantic comedy project in the warm spring. I received the "Your Taste" script as a birthday gift last year and chose to be a part of it." She added, "What attracted me most about Mo Yeon-joo, the character I play, is that she has her own philosophy and determination as a chef, emphasizing sincerity above all else, making her a warm yet sometimes quirky figure."
If she were to express the character Mo Yeon-joo through food, she would choose basic gimbap, stating, "While gimbap with various fancy ingredients is of course delicious, I prefer something simple and straightforward for consistent long-term enjoyment." She added, "I believe that making anything taste the best while sticking to the basics is the hardest. However, if you remain faithful to the basics, it seems that even something simple can become a beloved dish over time," showcasing Mo Yeon-joo's sincere charm.
Most importantly, Ko Min-si emphasized that she has put in considerable preparation and effort for this character. "In preparation for this project, I took lessons before filming. I made sure to use the Jeonju dialect accurately, and confirmed repeatedly about the intensity of the dialect. Additionally, I started practicing knife skills before filming, and even learned to cook directly from chefs on set," highlighting her passion for bringing the character Mo Yeon-joo to life.
Lastly, she expressed, "When you feel weary in your daily life, I hope this drama brings you laughter without any thoughts. I wish you would come into this warm story of people's lives together and enjoy a hearty meal." She continued, "I hope this romantic comedy, faithful to the basics, is remembered as a laughter factory that can fill your heart."
