Singer Baek Ji-young has revealed her beliefs about children's education.
Recently, a video titled 'The process of children with a CEO mom earning 10 billion won attending prestigious universities' was posted on Baek Ji-young's YouTube channel.
On that day, Baek Ji-young met with the mothers of her daughter Haim's friends to discuss education. One parent said, 'Wasn't your sister attending a private academy in Daechi-dong back then? I'm really curious. 'How was your sister?' So I asked, 'I don't think it was the case.'
In response, another parent said, 'That was because Yul wanted to go, so we went. It was scary, Daechi-dong.' Baek Ji-young asked, 'Then how were the results when you took the TES in Daechi-dong?' To which Yul's mom replied, 'It wasn't good. But I don't think anyone does well on the test. I think they make it intentionally difficult.'
Hearing this, Baek Ji-young asked, 'Did the test issues align with Yul's age? Or were they based on prior knowledge?' and then said, 'You don't know, do you?' Baek Ji-young noted, 'We used to learn a lot about the importance of preparation and review. But the preparation we talked about was reviewing what we learned today and skimming what we would cover next time.'
Baek Ji-young emphasized, 'Now we focus on prior knowledge. I wonder if I'm going to get stabbed for this. But I believe the order and pace of the curriculum set by this country is appropriate for an 8-year-old or a 9-year-old according to the child's brain development. How remarkable the individuals who created the textbooks must be!'
She continued, 'I've been thinking this way for a long time. So I will not do that,' opposing her daughter Haim's advanced learning, while Haim's friends' moms smiled and said, 'I'm satisfied with that, let's just meet among ourselves.'
Meanwhile, Baek Ji-young married actor Jung Suk-won, who is 9 years younger, in 2013 and has a daughter named Haim, born in 2017. Daughter Haim is currently attending an international school with an annual tuition fee of 30 million won.
