Channel A's 'Please take care of my grades: Teachers' MC Jun Hyun-moo has returned.
Ivy League graduate 'Brain' Jun Hyun-moo solidified his character last season as 'The God of Interviews.' However, in the upcoming season 2, he hinted at becoming 'The Asura of Teachers,' saying, "Like Count Asura, both teachers' faces and students' faces are present." Particularly, with the joining of Korean language teacher Yoon Hye-jung, the 'T Avengers' have become a complete set of Korean, English, math, and college entrance exams, noting, "If we had met earlier, I wouldn't have had to retake the exam. If I had met MimiMinoo, who greatly helps in deciding life paths as a 'College Entrance Strategy Mentor,' I would have received much greater assistance," revealing his trust in the 'life-changing power' possessed by the 'T Avengers.' Below is a Q&A with MC Jun Hyun-moo, who understands the desperate hearts of challenging students better than anyone else.
1. After appearing in season 1, you will be appearing in season 2 as well. Could you please share your reasons for deciding to participate and your thoughts on it?
- I am very honored to be appearing in season 2 after season 1. There are so many 'Teachers' fans around me. There are many entertainers with children, like Hong Hyun-hee, who also enjoyed the show. Even friends who don't watch all of the programs I do were very happy for me when I said I was doing 'Teachers 2.' This program reminds me of my past college entrance exam days, so I feel a special affection for it and can empathize with both students and teachers from both sides now as a member of the older generation.
2. If you had to summarize the character you are responsible for in 'Teachers' in one word, what would it be? Please share one charm point you will show in this season 2.
- I feel I lean a bit more towards the student side among students and teachers. This is because most parents are around my age, but I feel more emotionally aligned with students. I had many conflicts with my parents while going through my senior year, and I faced many challenges entering college as a special purpose school graduate. I also remember the difficulties I had with study methods. There were times when my thoughts differed from those of my parents and teachers, so I think I will adopt the role of a 'spokesperson' for students while remembering and reminiscing about that time again in season 2 like I did in season 1. But there are also problematic students, so having completed teacher training, I understand the teacher's position. I believe I will be able to scold students from the standpoint of teachers, treating them like friends or siblings. My charm point is that like Count Asura, I have both a teacher's face and a student's face as 'The Asura of Teachers.'
3. Now that you've grown so close, it seems like a familial chemistry has developed. How is the chemistry between you and teachers Jung Seung-jae and Jo Jung-sik?
- The chemistry is great. Teacher Jung Seung-jae is a year older than me, and Jo Jung-sik is younger than me, but while we initially met in a teacher-MC relationship, we've become so close in season 2 that an entertainment chemistry has developed. I tease Jo Jung-sik a lot, as he dresses so well, I constantly joke about his 'luxury frame.' Teacher Jung Seung-jae and I share a bond as both being single men and empathizing with the challenges of dieting. We boast a chemistry like that of close brothers.
4. Teacher Yoon Hye-jung has newly joined. What was your first impression of the new teacher? Was it the same as expected after the recording? If there were any differences, what were they?
- Initially, I thought Teacher Yoon Hye-jung might be a bit strict. Since she also lectures at EBS and is a public education teacher, I expected her to be somewhat rigid. I thought she might not be as flexible compared to Teachers Jung Seung-jae and Jo Jung-sik. I had this thought that public education teachers only adhere to rules and would not allow any deviations from principles. However, she turned out to be more flexible than anyone and has a broad understanding of students. She provides fresh insights that Teacher Jung Seung-jae and Jo Jung-sik cannot offer as she shares stories from the field that only a school teacher can relate. I also initially thought she was quite gentle, but she has a sharp tongue that surpasses Teachers Jung Seung-jae and Jo Jung-sik, as she is strict and speaks her mind.
5. As the MC, how is the chemistry among the complete set of Korean, English, and math Teachers: Jung Seung-jae, Jo Jung-sik, and Yoon Hye-jung?
- The chemistry of the T Avengers is perfect. Teachers Jung Seung-jae and Jo Jung-sik almost have a sibling-like chemistry, while Teacher Yoon Hye-jung feels like a sharp sister from a family with many siblings. She seems like the second older sister, precise and not leaning towards one side, and very diligent in her work.
6. Who is the student you remember most from season 1? I'm also curious why.
- There was a challenging student who was making various excuses like 'this is not my style' or 'the questions aren't attractive' while not properly studying. This student had ten different excuses for one study session. Due to the multitude of excuses, I couldn't side with that student at the time. So, we the T Avengers ended up scolding that student a lot, but eventually, their grades visibly improved, and I felt like the person had been transformed by getting rid of all those bad habits of making excuses... that student is the one I remember most.
7. What have your thoughts been about studying, and have there been any changes since appearing on 'Teachers'?
- When I was a student preparing for exams, studying was really an obligatory task that had to be done. It was something I had to do to get into college, something I had to memorize forcefully without understanding, a task that was devoid of any fun and felt like a burdensome hurdle. I always say that if I had met Teachers Jung Seung-jae and Jo Jung-sik in my senior year, I might have been able to get into the university I wanted much sooner. Both teachers first firmly engrave the concepts in your mind before moving on to problem-solving. It might seem like a very obvious statement, but I wasn't able to study that way in my senior year. I had done too many preliminary studies and had become tired of studying by only doing preparations without digesting them. Both teachers advocate that 'steady current studies are better than excessive preliminary studies.' So I think if I had met those two and gradually built up concepts, I wouldn't have had to retake the exam. And to confess, I never found interest in studying, but if I had met the 'Teachers' earlier, I might have developed a significant interest in studying itself. My perspective on studying has changed a lot, and I believe my life has transformed a lot.
8. If you had met the complete set of Korean, English, math, and college entrance exam Teachers: Jung Seung-jae, Jo Jung-sik, Yoon Hye-jung, and MimiMinoo during your study life, how do you think your life would have changed?
- First of all, I wouldn't have had to retake the exam. MimiMinoo is not the type to give emotional damage or false hopes without basis. They provide a list of universities I could realistically aim for. Therefore, if I had found interest in studying with the 'T Avengers' and applied with a sound decision mixed with a hint of hope along with MimiMinoo, I wouldn't have had to retake the exam. And instead of just blindly going for a university brand, I think I would have thought about what strategies I need even after graduation to make choices for my future. MimiMinoo is not merely a mentor who helps with college admissions; they are an excellent 'college entrance strategy mentor' who greatly assists in choosing life paths ahead. My life would have changed dramatically.
9. As the anticipation for season 2 rises, please give a point that students, parents, and viewers must watch out for.
- In season 2, we won't just be airing for one challenging student; we will provide a lot of general advice suitable for each grade. Please don't think, 'That student is the only one who benefits,' as the viewers in that grade will gain valuable tips. And they will find it much easier to understand the steps of the constantly changing college entrance strategy. This is a bit of a spoiler, but we will have challenging students who have already entered college, including the youngest ones. There is a variety of student types, and the addition of a Korean language teacher makes the content even richer. Please tune in!
