On the 30th, an interview with Bae Doona, the star of the movie 'Virus,' took place at a café in Samcheong-dong, Seoul.
The film 'Virus' (directed by Kang Yi-gwan, distributed by BiPoem Studio Co., Ltd., produced by The Lamp Co., Ltd.), based on the original novel 'Youth Crisis,' tells the story of 'Taek-seon,' who is infected with a 100% fatal virus that falls in love without reason, and his unexpected journey with three men: 'Soo-pill' (played by Son Suk-ku), a research fellow who is inexperienced in romance, 'Yeon-woo' (played by Jang Ki-ha), a long-time classmate, and 'Eun-kyun' (played by Kim Yoon-seok), the only expert who can create a cure.
On this day, Bae Doona commented on her chemistry with 'actor Jang Ki-ha,' saying, "He performs so well. I resonate with what Senior Yoon-seok said during the conference. I think of him as a singer acting. Among them, Jang Ki-ha has his unique sense of rhythm and tone that makes his singing distinctive. Even when he came to the film industry, his individuality was clearly displayed."
She continued, "What's amazing is that he makes it seem like he's not acting. Anyone can act, but it's difficult to act in a way that seems like you're not in front of the camera. It's also hard to deliver lines as if they were spoken naturally. It seems like he doesn't get nervous at all. He felt like someone I had known since elementary school. I realized that someone with a background in the music industry also excels in the film industry."
When asked about her 'connection with Jang Ki-ha before the project,' Bae Doona recalled, "There was a previous connection. I had completely forgotten, but I appeared in a music video for Senior Yoon Jong-shin's 'Temperature of Separation.' That was around 2010. The story is about a woman who returns home after going through trials. Although not visible, a band appears to comfort her, which included Yoon Jong-shin, Yoon Sang, Lee Sang-soon, Jang Ki-ha, and Yoo Hee-yeol. They came to shoot the music video."
She added, "I was feeling gloomy there, and they were singing for me. I met them there but had entirely forgotten about it. The shooting was so funny. I had to cry, but they were so amusing that I ended up biting my tongue while acting, and I didn't even remember who played the drums there."
Bae Doona said, "It's so funny that during the promotional rounds, that story came up. When Jang Ki-ha mentioned it, I was like, 'Oh, really!' It turns out he had already mentioned it before filming, and then he asked, 'Why are you pretending not to know again?'" This brought laughter.
Meanwhile, the movie 'Virus' will be released in theaters on May 7.
