Singer and actor Lee Seung-gi will appear on a variety program after severing ties with his in-laws.
On the 30th, KBS2's 'Immortal Songs' announced that Lee Seung-gi will participate in the recording taking place on May 12.
The day's recording will be themed '2025 Oh My Star.' Ten teams, including Choi Sung-soo and Ahn Sung-hoon, Park Wan-kyu and Baek Cheong-gang, Lim Tae-kyung and Jung Seon-ah, Lee Young-hyun and Son Sung-yeon, BMK and Jo Jae-z, Ha Do-kwon and Lee Ah-reum-sol, Lee Seung-gi and Lee Hong-ki, Kim Jun-ho and Choi Su-ho, and Kim Gi-tae and La Poem, are expected to perform duets.
Lee Seung-gi's appearance on the broadcast is particularly noteworthy as it comes after he declared the severance of his relationship with his in-laws on the 29th. Lee Seung-gi stated through his agency, "There were illegal matters that had been continually raised with my father-in-law, which led to a fine being imposed in the retrial; however, I have now faced the situation of being investigated again due to similar illegal actions. I am unable to suppress my feelings of despair regarding my father-in-law's misconduct, as I had been waiting for a result based on trust among family members."
In particular, Lee Seung-gi expressed, "I deeply reflect on my careless remarks made without thoroughly reviewing the issues related to my father-in-law last year. I believe that a just punishment must be imposed for illegal actions, and I sincerely apologize for the pain endured by the victims who suffered due to my hasty judgment. Due to this incident, trust among family members has been severely damaged, and my wife and I have decided to sever ties with my in-laws after long deliberation. Moving forward, I will maintain a more appropriate set of values and live with a sense of responsibility for a healthy society."
Additionally, attention is drawn to whether Lee Seung-gi's appearance will resolve the conflict between KBS and One Hundred over the cancellation of Xiumin's appearance on 'Music Bank.' Lee Seung-gi's agency, Big Planet Made, is the label under One Hundred, led by MC Mong. Last March, due to Xiumin's canceled appearance on 'Music Bank,' the recording schedules of Lee Soo-geun and Im Wu-jin were also canceled. It remains to be seen whether Lee Seung-gi's appearance will resolve the conflict.
Meanwhile, KBS2's 'Immortal Songs' airs every Saturday at 6:05 p.m.
