Renowned close friends, actors Yoo Hae-jin and Son Hyun-joo, will finally meet in the movie 'Big Deal' to engage in an acting battle.
The film 'Big Deal' (distributed by SHOWBOX, produced by The Lamp) is set during the 1997 IMF financial crisis, where the financial director Jong-rok, for whom soju company is everything, and In-bum, an employee of a global investment firm who solely pursues results, confront the fate of soju for the people of South Korea.
National actor Yoo Hae-jin and Son Hyun-joo are known as representatives of the film industry as 'close friends,' despite being senior and junior to each other. Notably, Yoo Hae-jin showcased his close friendship with Son Hyun-joo by appearing on the MBC entertainment program 'Son Hyun-joo's Transit Station' in episodes 1 and 2 in 2021, but the two have never collaborated on a project together. As two talented actors with diverse filmographies finally come together in the movie 'Big Deal', they meet as superior and subordinate in the KUKBO group, which boasts the highest sales rate of soju in South Korea.
First, Yoo Hae-jin will play the role of the financial director, Pyo Jong-rok. Jong-rok is a character who, when KUKBO Group faces bankruptcy due to the IMF financial crisis, not only meets with investment firms and law firms but also actively promotes soju to protect the company. On the other hand, Son Hyun-joo's character, Seok Jin-woo, is the chairman of KUKBO Group, which manages KUKBO soju, who, despite his belief that the company will never fail, demonstrates a management style of not letting go of his possessions until the end. While showcasing an unconventional relationship, they will engage in an acting battle as well as a war over the fate of KUKBO soju.
During the production report conference, Son Hyun-joo expressed his feelings about working with Yoo Hae-jin, saying, "Although we are close friends in daily life, it was my first time meeting him on screen, so I was very curious. Yoo Hae-jin fulfilled his role within the drama adequately. He did not disappoint, as expected." Yoo Hae-jin also added, "Son Hyun-joo is one of the few people I respect. While acting together, I truly relied on and expected a lot from him," sparking curiosity about the sincerity of their performances in the movie 'Big Deal'.
The movie 'Big Deal', which confirms the meeting of representative South Korean actors Yoo Hae-jin and Son Hyun-joo, will be released nationwide in theaters on June 3 (Tuesday).
