It has already been 17 years since Monday Kids member the late Kim Minsu passed away, but he still remained in the hearts of fans.
Monday Kids' Kim Minsu was involved in an accident at around 6:24 a.m. on April 29, 2008, while riding a motorcycle toward the intersection in Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu, Seoul, when he collided with a street tree. He was later transported to a hospital but ultimately died. He was 23.
Before the fatal accident, the late Kim Minsu had also been in a traffic accident the previous year and spent about six months hospitalized for treatment. At the time, after finishing recording a track for their third album and riding his motorcycle home to his Hapjeong-dong residence, he collided with a passenger car and underwent surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament and damage to the lateral and medial cartilage of his knee.
After a long period of hospitalization and recovery, Kim Minsu released the third album and was actively promoting when this accident occurred, which made it all the more tragic. At the far-too-early age of 24, his death plunged the entertainment industry into deep sorrow, and fans and the public were stunned.
While promoting the third album, he said, "Motorcycles are really scary. I will work harder, for the many people who have worried about me," showing his determination.
The late Kim Minsu released Monday Kids' 2005 album "Bye Bye Bye," earning great love for his outstanding vocal skills and distinctive musical style. He was praised for his characteristically rich, deep, resonant tone and lower-register husky timbre. He also released the single "Love Actually" with his senior singer and mentor Jang Hye Jin, which received a positive response.
Meanwhile, Monday Kids officially announced their disbandment in November 2008 after the death of the late Kim Minsu and stopped using the group name, later reorganizing as a trio in 2010 and promoting for four years. After that, Lee Jin Seong led Monday Kids alone.
