Actor Kim Soo-hyun has drawn attention after reports emerged that he was sued by advertisers.
On the 29th, as reports of Kim Soo-hyun's lawsuit surfaced, his agency stated to OSEN that they were "under confirmation."
On this day, a media outlet reported that companies A and B, which had contracts with Kim Soo-hyun, filed a lawsuit for the return of model fees and damages against Kim Soo-hyun and his agency, Gold Medalist.
The total amount of the lawsuit from the two companies reaches over 3 billion won, and it is also reported that other advertisers are considering filing lawsuits. Based on the known model fees, the total lawsuit amount could exceed 10 billion won. In this regard, his agency stated to OSEN that they were "under confirmation."
Since last month, Kim Soo-hyun has been embroiled in allegations that he dated the late actress Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor. The family of the late Kim Sae-ron claimed through the Garosero Research Institute on YouTube that she and Kim Soo-hyun had been in a relationship for about six years from 2015 to 2021, and there were also allegations that Kim Soo-hyun and his agency pressured the late actress to repay a debt.
In response, Kim Soo-hyun's side refuted that they dated from 2019 to 2020, after Kim Sae-ron became an adult. They also clarified that the certified mail was merely left for legal proceedings due to the agency's write-off process regarding the penalty from Kim Sae-ron's drunk driving incident, and they did not urge for repayment.
On the 31st of last month, he held a press conference and denied the allegations surrounding him again. He has filed a lawsuit against the family of the late Kim Sae-ron and the Garosero Research Institute for defamation under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, claiming about 12 billion won in damages. He also noted that he filed an additional complaint against the operator of the Garosero Research Institute for violations of the Stalking Punishment Act.
However, despite Kim Soo-hyun's explanation, the backlash continued. Domestic and international brands that used him as a model deleted his photos and advertisement videos, and MBC's "Good Day" edited out all of Kim Soo-hyun's appearances. Filming for Kim Soo-hyun's Disney+ drama "Knock-Off," which was in its final stages, was also halted, and Disney+ officially stated that they are "postponing the release schedule for 'Knock-Off' completely."
