During a psychology counseling session with her first son, Wang-sik, Hwang Jung-eum from 'Single Life' sheds tears.
In the 17th episode of the jointly produced entertainment show 'Single Life' airing tonight at 8:30 p.m. on SBS Plus and E Channel, Hwang Jung-eum is depicted taking her nine-year-old son, Wang-sik, for their first psychological counseling session at a child and youth development center.
On that day, Hwang Jung-eum mediates when a conflict arises between her first son, Wang-sik, and her second son, Kang-sik, who desires his brother's belongings while playing together. However, Wang-sik cannot hide his feelings of disappointment towards his mother, who tells him to 'give way to his younger brother,' even as his sibling continues to take his things.
Hwang Jung-eum also notices that Wang-sik's unusual behavior is concerning. She then takes Wang-sik to the development center. In the car on the way, Wang-sik gives short answers to his mother's question, 'How is school life going?' or avoids the conversation entirely. He then expresses, 'It's awkward and boring when it's just me and mom,' which surprises Hwang Jung-eum. To this, she honestly admits, 'I don't think I've gone out alone with Wang-sik since Kang-sik was born. Since I'm always with Kang-sik, it's also not easy for me to continue conversations with Wang-sik.'
Shortly after, the two arrive at the child and youth development center and apply for psychological counseling. Hwang Jung-eum expresses her concern, saying, 'The emotion card sent from Wang-sik's school has checked negative emotions like 'depression' and 'anxiety,' so I'm worried,' and adds, 'I want to know the exact causes and solutions.' Immediately afterward, Wang-sik meets with the psychological counselor and, when the discussion turns to family and home, he admits, 'Being at home is annoying and uncomfortable,' shocking everyone. He then reveals his true feelings, which he had not shown to anyone, and later Hwang Jung-eum, who hears this from the counselor, bursts into tears.
Hwang Jung-eum, feeling upset, says, 'I encouraged Wang-sik to give way because Kang-sik is young...' and adds, 'It hurts my heart so much that the child born because of me is suffering and hurt because of me,' shedding tears of regret. There is a growing interest in the reason behind Wang-sik's deep feelings of depression and anxiety, and whether Hwang Jung-eum can bridge the distance that has grown between them.
The special date between Hwang Jung-eum and Wang-sik, along with a cheerful day of Myung Se-bin receiving special training from chef Jeong Ho-young to obtain a 'pufferfish certification,' can be seen in the 17th episode of 'Single Life' airing tonight at 8:30 p.m. on SBS Plus and E Channel.
