NCT WISH member Sion has seized the opportunity to throw the first pitch for Kia.
On the 27th, according to the Kia Tigers, group NCT WISH member Sion will take on the role of pitcher at a home game against Hanwha on May 4 at Gwangju Kia Champions Field.
Sion, who will take the mound that day, is known to be a true fan of Kia, born in Mokpo, Jeollanam-do. He was invited as a pitcher on September 21 of last year and visited Champions Field with the members, but the game was canceled due to rain at that time.
As the game was rescheduled for the 22nd, Sion unusually stayed an additional day in Gwangju, hoping to throw the first pitch. At that time, both the Kia organization and Sion's agency, SM, agreed to this, and all members expressed their willingness to participate in the pitching event.
However, the next day's game was also canceled due to rain, leaving Sion with no choice but to swallow his disappointment. When asked about the failed first pitch at a comeback showcase held a few days later, Sion said, "I am a lifelong Kia fan. I wanted to see the return match of player Yoon Young-cheol, but I couldn't watch the game. I was very disappointed, but I was able to receive pitching guidance from player Yang Hyun-jong and saw the Kia Tigers players, so I was proud to visit Champions Field again."
He also boasted, "I filmed a challenge with Hogul," while member Ryo added, "I've come to like Hogul. He's nice and it was really great that he filmed the challenge."
Although the first pitch did not happen, Sion, along with Yang Hyun-jong, appeared in the web entertainment program "My Favorite Camping," exchanging numbers and developing a brotherly relationship. Recently appearing on "Cultwo Show," Sion revealed, "Player Kim Do-young seems to have recovered. There's nothing left but to rise," showing his true fan nature.
He continued, "The first pitch was canceled twice due to rain, but I gained something. I really like player Yang Hyun-jong, and we became like brothers. Go Kia!"
As Sion prepares to return to Gwangju after about seven months, expectations rise for what kind of first pitch he will show. Sion expressed, "Unfortunately I couldn't throw the first pitch last year, but I'm thrilled and happy to have the opportunity again. I want to give the players good energy through the first pitch and will cheer loudly with the Tigers fans so that we can win on that day."
Meanwhile, the group NCT WISH that Sion belongs to made a comeback with their second mini-album "poppop" on the 14th.
