Singer Lee Chan-won has entered as a special caster for professional baseball.
Starting from 1:55 p.m. on the 26th, KBS2 aired the KBO League match between Lotte and Doosan, live from the Jamsil Baseball Stadium.
In this context, Lee Chan-won was seen in the broadcast booth alongside Park Yong-taek and Lee Dong-geun from 'KBS Saturdays Love Baseball.' Previously, KBS noted that Lee Chan-won would grants as a special caster for the KBO League specialized broadcast program 'Saturdays Love Baseball,' generating anticipation.
That day, the broadcast booth where Lee Chan-won was present was streamed live through KBS Sports' official channel. Before the game started, Lee Chan-won chatted about baseball broadcasting with Park Yong-taek and Lee Dong-geun. He asked, "Is it easier to commentate during a pitching duel or a hitting contest?" Park Yong-taek and Lee Dong-geun replied, "Pitching duels are much more fun. It's more comfortable," and "There are many more things to talk about."
Park Yong-taek shared, "Each pitch gains significance. When the game explodes, each pitch loses its significance. Whether it's a one-point game or 0-0, 1-0, every pitch completely changes in meaning," reflecting on his experience. Lee Dong-geun suggested, "How about Chan-won reading the lineup today?" expressing affection towards Lee Chan-won.
Lee Chan-won had previously expressed his dream of becoming a sports announcer through broadcasts. He made a special appearance as a commentator for MBC SPORTS+ during the 2020 KBO League match between Samsung and SK, showcasing a high level of commentary based on his extensive baseball knowledge, astonishing everyone. After that, he appeared in sports channels such as 'Racket Boys' and 'Back to the Ground,' and since 2022, he has served as a special commissioner at the Hope Together charity baseball tournament. He is currently also making strides in futsal commentary through 'Pollunteer.'
Notably, last year he visited Jamsil Baseball Stadium to watch the Doosan vs. Samsung game and was invited to the broadcast booth where he briefly commented, causing caster Jung Byeong-mun to joke that his position was precarious while acknowledging Lee Chan-won's skills. Amid this, he has taken a step closer to his dream of becoming a sports announcer as he debuts as a special caster on public broadcasting.
Fans who watched remarked, "That's so cool," and "I support you," offering applause for Lee Chan-won's journey as he expands his presence as a caster.
