PD and creator Shin Won-ho directly expressed his feelings about the delay in the airing of tvN's new Saturday-Sunday drama "Resident Playbook" (hereinafter "Unsljeon").
On the 25th, a video titled "Who is the mood maker on set? Feat. Self-recommended Kang Yu-seok" featuring Go Youn-jung, Kang Yu-seok, Shin Si A, Han Ye-ji, and Shin Won-ho was released.
In the released video, Shin Won-ho said, "'Unsljeon' was originally scheduled to air last May as a follow-up to 'Queen of Tears.' However, after the government announced its policy to expand medical school quotas, the residents began a long medical strike, and this work focusing on residents was also delayed in its scheduling."
He continued, "It has been almost a year since filming ended, and it has never taken this long to release after filming; it has never happened even similarly. After waiting more than 10 months, when it finally got released, I felt a lump in my throat even from just watching the trailer."
Actor Go Youn-jung also conveyed her feelings, saying, "Since it was filmed a year ago, I can view it from a more objective audience perspective."
Meanwhile, 'Unsljeon' is a spin-off drama of 'Hospital Playlist,' depicting the growth process of obstetrics and gynecology residents. However, before airing, major hospitals' residents collectively resigned, leading to a medical vacuum, and the perspective towards 'Unsljeon,' which features a resident at the center of the strike as the main character, was not favorable.
Ultimately, tvN decided to postpone the scheduling to the second half of the following year, and instead of 'Unsljeon,' which was expected as a follow-up to 'Queen of Tears,' 'Graduation' went on air, and the scheduling delays continued thereafter.
