This summer's cinematic season opener, the movie 'Big Deal,' held a production briefing successfully on April 24 (Thursday) at 11 a.m. at Megabox COEX.
The film 'Big Deal' (distributed by SHOWBOX, produced by The Lamp) is a story about Chief Financial Officer Jong-rok, for whom the soju company is life during the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis, and In-beom, an employee of a global investment firm who solely pursues results, battling over the fate of Korean soju.
At the production briefing for 'Big Deal,' held on April 24 (Thursday), the main cast, including actors Yoo Hae-jin, Lee Je-hoon, Son Hyun-joo, and Choi Young-jun, who will showcase a chemistry that tastes of alcohol on screen, attended and shared various stories about the film. Yoo Hae-jin, who plays the role of Chief Financial Officer Pyo Jong-rok, who seeks to protect 'KUKBO' soju, expressed his unique reason for participating in the film by saying, "Perhaps because it's about alcohol, the script read smoothly. I liked Jong-rok's human side," revealing his distinct motivation for joining the project. Following that, Lee Je-hoon, who plays the role of Choi In-beom, an employee at a global investment firm solely pursuing results and seeking to take over 'KUKBO' soju, stated, "When I received the offer for this project and heard that my senior Hae-jin was going to be in it, I decided to participate. Such opportunities are not common, so there was anticipation about being able to work together," firmly noting that Yoo Hae-jin was his primary reason for choosing the project.
Moreover, the two of them created the 'Unique Combination,' meaning 'the only Yoo Hae-jin, harmless Lee Je-hoon,' through 'Big Deal.' It is also the first time the two characters meet on screen. When asked about their bromance, Lee Je-hoon stated, "He's someone for whom movies equate to life. He provided a lot of stimulation, allowing me to express a new character," and referred to Yoo Hae-jin as "film," while Yoo Hae-jin responded by singing the song 'As Always Like a Movie' by singer Jeon In-kwon, maintaining a warm atmosphere.
Son Hyun-joo humorously remarked, "If Mr. Yoo Hae-jin had listened to me, the soju company would not have gone bankrupt, but he just wouldn't listen. That's why the company went under," while embodying the character of Seok Jin-woo, the chairman of KUKBO Group, who is facing bankruptcy, resulting in laughter from the audience. Lastly, Choi Young-jun, who plays Gu Young-mo, a representative attorney at a law firm skilled in crisis management, expressed special emotions about making his screen debut through 'Big Deal' by saying, "It was my first film, but the time spent with my seniors was a great learning experience."
In addition to the witty exchanges among the actors, the first preview and making video released that day also heightened anticipation for the film. Beginning with the production briefing, 'Big Deal' announced a fresh and clean start and is set to be available in theaters nationwide on June 3 (Tuesday).
