Comedian Lee Gook-joo clarified rumors about immigrating to Japan.
On the 23rd, Lee revealed on her personal YouTube channel that she is currently living in a one-room apartment in Japan.
Living in a 9-pyeong one-room apartment, Lee reflected, "I have also turned 40, and next year will be my 20th anniversary since my debut. But for the past 4 or 5 years, I feel like I have just been going through the motions, doing what I was told and reacting to whatever came my way."
She explained the reason she started living in Japan, saying, "So, I have felt for quite some time that I have been living without new challenges or excitement, and while I was contemplating this, I really wanted to learn a language. I had this vague thought that if I could become fluent in Japanese, I might be able to do something. But instead of just waiting for opportunities to come my way, I thought I should try to do something when there's not much work, and that's how I ended up here."
After this news broke, there were speculations that Lee had immigrated to Japan. In response, Lee clarified on her SNS on the 24th, saying, "I am living in both Japan and Korea. I have not immigrated. In fact, just yesterday, I had spicy jjambbong in Singil-dong."
