Hwang Cheol-soon, known for his role as a 'Jing man' on 'Comedy Big League,' has been sued by his wife on charges of defamation and assault, and his legal representative has made a statement.
On the morning of the 24th, Lee Don-ho, a lawyer from Nova Law Office representing Hwang Cheol-soon, opened the statement through a press release, saying, "We clarify our position regarding the malicious dissemination of false facts by the wife of Hwang Cheol-soon, referred to as A. We will defend our position against the claims made by A's side regarding the 'injury after release.'"
He further asserted, "The allegations raised by A's side regarding 'injury after release' are entirely unfounded and false claims. A's interview seems to be an act to confuse the narrative of a situation that was previously resolved amicably, thus misleading public opinion."
Hwang Cheol-soon's side stated, "The claim that A is demanding child support is also not true. Despite the legal responsibilities not being confirmed during the divorce proceedings, Hwang Cheol-soon has consistently deposited amounts ranging from approximately 6 million won to 7 million won into the children's accounts each month out of moral responsibility and affection for the children. Nevertheless, A maliciously registered Hwang Cheol-soon as a bad father, distorting the situation to make it seem as if he has not fulfilled his parental responsibilities."
"In fact, there is evidence that A wanted Hwang Cheol-soon not to be released since he was incarcerated, and during the reporting, A admitted that the report was made with the false purpose of preventing Hwang Cheol-soon from being imprisoned again. Furthermore, A has not presented any medical certificates indicating harm suffered to date, indicating contradictions in A's claims."
Additionally, Hwang Cheol-soon's lawyer emphasized, "A's act of unilaterally changing the children's names without the consent of Hwang Cheol-soon, who is a joint custodian, while Hwang Cheol-soon is incarcerated, is a serious problem. This is clearly an act done without the consent of the other custodian and constitutes an unlawful exercise of custody, which cannot be tolerated."
Finally, Hwang Cheol-soon's lawyer noted, "We will respond rigorously to all false claims and unjust actions from A's side using all legal means available."
Earlier, on the 14th, Hwang Cheol-soon revealed the lawsuit documents on his personal social media, stating that his wife A has accused him of assault. Regarding the lawsuit, he claimed, "As expected, when it is unfavorable, A tries to divert attention again with a tactic used several years ago," saying, "A has made a report of assault despite not being close at all. It's a world where the roles of perpetrator and victim are flipped through media play."
However, Kim Gyu-deok, a lawyer from the Law Firm Shinwi representing A, emphasized through a media outlet that "we visited the Gwanak Police Station in Seoul today with the victim (A) to file a complaint regarding Hwang Cheol-soon's assault and violation of the Information Communication Network Act," stressing that it is not false reporting.
In particular, he pointed out that Hwang Cheol-soon's claim on social media that A's lawsuit is false constitutes defamation through the delivery of false facts. He also asserted that the level of assault reached a degree warranting a lawsuit.
Full statement from lawyer Lee Don-ho of Nova Law Office regarding Hwang Cheol-soon
I am Lee Don-ho, Hwang Cheol-soon's legal representative from Nova Law Office. I will clarify our position regarding the malicious dissemination of false facts by A's side.
The allegations raised by A's side regarding 'injury after release' are completely false. A's interview seems to mix up the sequence of events related to a situation that was resolved amicably in the past, leading to confusion and attempting to mislead public opinion.
The claim that A is demanding unpaid child support is also untrue. Hwang Cheol-soon has consistently deposited amounts ranging from approximately 6 million won to 7 million won into the children's accounts each month out of moral responsibility and affection for the children, even though legal responsibilities have not been confirmed during the divorce proceedings.
However, A has maliciously registered Hwang Cheol-soon as a bad father, distorting the situation to make it seem as if he has not fulfilled his parental responsibilities.
In fact, there is evidence that A wanted Hwang Cheol-soon not to be released since he was incarcerated. During the reporting, A admitted that the report was made for the false purpose of preventing Hwang Cheol-soon from being re-imprisoned. Moreover, as A has not presented any medical certificates indicating harm suffered to date, there are contradictions in A's claims.
A's act of unilaterally changing the children's names without the consent of Hwang Cheol-soon, who is a joint custodian, while Hwang Cheol-soon is incarcerated is a serious issue. This is clearly an act done without the consent of the other custodian and constitutes an unlawful exercise of custody, which cannot be tolerated.
We will respond rigorously to all false claims and unjust actions from A's side using all legal means available.
