Singer Bobby Kim is attracting attention by revealing his full love story with his wife, who is 15 years his junior.
Bobby Kim became a couple by marrying his non-celebrity wife in June 2022. At that time, the agency said, "The bride first met Bobby Kim during his concert tour 12 years ago and developed a romantic relationship 2 years ago. Bobby Kim was said to have made the decision to marry because he was drawn to the peculiar charm of making him feel at ease when he was with his fiancée."
Recently, Bobby Kim fully unveiled the story from their first meeting to their wedding during an interview commemorating the release of his new mini album "PART OF ME," held at a café in Mapo District, Seoul.
He explained, "My wife was part of the staff for my concert in Hawaii in 2010. I fell in love at first sight there. My stylist sister got close to my wife, and she came to Korea. So, she started working under my stylist. We briefly met for less than a year. Due to being busy and the 15-year age difference, we ended up breaking up."
As they both worked in the same industry, there were times he bumped into his wife. He recalled, "After I made my comeback in 2019, she appeared in my dreams twice. Believe it or not, it felt like a movie. (laughs) During that time, out of the blue, I received a message from her congratulating me on my comeback and asking how I was doing. When I said I was doing well and asked where she was, she said she had gone back to Hawaii."
He continued, "At that time, I didn't know if she had a boyfriend or if she was married, but because she appeared in my dreams, I suggested we go to Hawaii. She said she would come pick me up at the airport. We met for a meal, and by then, we were just like brother and sister, but on the last day, I proposed. She didn't have any idea what I was feeling. After a long conversation, I thought if I didn't do it here, I would live alone for the rest of my life. I proposed with the desire to live together forever. That was when COVID-19 had just started. So, we continued our relationship over the phone, and I eventually came to Korea when COVID-19 ended, and we had our wedding in 2022."
Bobby Kim, who returned with a new album after 3 years since 2022, said, "The reason the album took a long time was that there was also a marriage, and COVID-19 was a major obstacle. However, thanks to COVID-19, I was able to get a lot of thoughts and inspiration," adding, "Those who are married will know, but I struggled to adjust after being independent at 12, living alone before marriage."
He continued, "I used to work overnight and wake up in the afternoon, but after marriage, as I began living a regular life, I had to change my working system, which was uncomfortable and took time to adjust. During the time COVID-19 hit, I couldn't exercise, so I took many walks and gained a lot of inspiration. It took time to switch from working at night to working during the day."
Bobby Kim said, "As a husband, I have to focus on my music career, but it took time to adjust. I have to work harder as the head of the household while concentrating on my job in music. It used to be free music, but now I realize this is my job, and if I work hard, I can stabilize my family. There isn't any pressure. I plan to actively participate in entertainment shows, even those I don't want to go on. I am also working on the next new releases."
When asked about children, he said, "After getting married, I felt that I should think about it only after settling down. The adjustment period took a long time. Now I'm slowly starting to think about having kids."
Previously, he mentioned wanting to give up music, but he said, "After getting married, I realized that music is the only thing I know how to do, so that sense of responsibility makes my heart grow wider. I thought giving up was an immature idea. I've come to realize that I still have things I want to do, and that thought was foolish. I want to do music until all my teeth fall out. I want to hold a concert with a cane," sharing his future dream.
