Singer Bobby Kim has returned after a three-year hiatus following his marriage.
Bobby Kim recently held an interview to celebrate the release of his new mini-album 'PART OF ME' at a cafe in Mapo District, Seoul, discussing his new album.
Having announced his comeback after three years since releasing the digital single 'Drunken', Bobby Kim said, "The reason the album took a long time was both due to my marriage and the significant impact of COVID-19. However, thanks to COVID-19, I was able to gain a lot of thoughts and inspiration," adding, "Those who are married will understand, but I struggled to adapt after living alone for 12 years before getting married and becoming independent."
He continued, "I used to work overnight and get up in the afternoon, but after getting married, living a regular life, I had to change my working system, which was uncomfortable and took time to adapt. During COVID-19, since I couldn't exercise, I took many walks and gained a lot of inspiration. It took time for me to adjust to working at night instead of during the day."
Bobby Kim's new album 'PART OF ME' is a work that depicts precious moments in daily life and deep emotions through a variety of genres and rich emotions. It is completed through a harmonious blend of diverse musical attempts and profound sentiment, expressing everyday life, love, and the complex feelings of life with empathy and comfort.
He commented on the album, "Since I am happily living after marriage, I thought the songs would be bright from beginning to end if I wrote positively. When releasing the album, I wanted to play with people's emotions. Don't we all have various emotions within us? Two songs contain positive content, while three songs are about separation and loneliness."
The title track 'Let Love Flow...And 3 Days' is an emotional ballad that combines the delicate lyrics of Park Sun-joo with Bobby Kim's vocals, expressing the complex emotions of love, separation, and regret in a lyrical manner. It contains heartfelt messages for all couples in the world.
Bobby Kim, who revealed that the title track is about an old lover, stated, "This song was created after my marriage, reflecting on the old memories, and when both parties are stubborn and clash with each other, separation occurs. The reason I added the phrase 'And 3 Days' in the title is that it implies there is still hope."
He added, "Three days after a breakup is a critical point. This is from my experience. It was hard to explain to my wife. I told her, 'It's definitely not the present. It's the past. I only love you. But as an artist, memories are important.' My wife just nodded while listening to the song. I think many people will like it," he laughed, adding, "My wife's favorite track is the pre-released 'Morning Routine.'"
This album features Tablo and Gaeko participating in the lyrics, lending their support. Bobby Kim expressed gratitude, saying, "Since my Korean is not proficient, I composed but requested my close friends and colleagues who know me well to write the lyrics, including Gaeko, Tablo, Park Sun-joo, and Bugaboo's Juvitrain. They managed to express the message I wanted to convey in Korean."
Earlier, Bobby Kim joined Attract due to his long-standing relationship with CEO Jeon Hong-jun, who has been with him for over 21 years since his debut. He said, "I haven't gained anything and it was solely because of my loyalty to CEO Jeon Hong-jun. He is like family. I dislike moving around. It is only now that I fully trust CEO Jeon Hong-jun and work together. For the past 30 years, I haven't trusted anyone. I have been watching CEO Jeon Hong-jun, who is a good person, but I had even a bit of doubt, and as time has gone on, I have completely let go and thought that I will trust him unconditionally and go all the way."
Having witnessed the Fifty Fifty incident in 2023 from the sidelines, he said, "It broke my heart. The CEO Jeon Hong-jun I know is kind-hearted, like a sheep. He is gentle and does not have any evil thoughts. Seeing such a white, sheep-like person treated that way really hurt my heart. However, I felt he would be rewarded. Now, it seems he has returned and is happy."
Finally, Bobby Kim stated his goal for this activity as, "I have made a comeback, and I want people to know that I am still alive and continuing music. I hope this work is something people can listen to comfortably."
