MBC is scheduling an encore documentary two-part series in remembrance of the news of Pope Francis' death.
MBC announced on the 24th that it will broadcast the encore documentary 'Papa! Francis' and 'The Pope's Way' as a tribute to Pope Francis' passing.
This documentary aims to revisit Pope Francis' life and beliefs, reflecting on the messages he left behind and providing a time for remembrance.
Part 1, 'Papa! Francis', and Part 2, 'The Pope's Way', originally aired during the pope's visit to South Korea in 2014, introducing the current state of the Vatican while reflecting on the history of the Korean Catholic Church, which holds a history of persecution and martyrdom.
At that time, the production team conducted local coverage in Argentina, the Vatican, Italy, and the United States for about five months. The tombs of past popes in the underground of St. Peter's Basilica, the Sistine Chapel where the secret conclave is held for pope selection, the humble lodging 'Domus Sanctae Marthae' chosen by Pope Francis instead of the papal residence, and the archives where the history of the Vatican is recorded were revealed for the first time to the South Korean media, drawing significant attention.
Additionally, through testimonies of individuals who have met the pope directly or have had long-standing connections with him, the documentary deeply highlights the message of hope and love that Pope Francis conveyed to the socially marginalized, transcending nationality, ethnicity, age, and religion.
The MBC documentary in tribute to Pope Francis' passing, the encore two-part series 'Papa! Francis' and 'The Pope's Way', will be broadcast today (24th) at 12:05 a.m. on Thursday.
