Jang Young-ran, who is cherished as the 'empathy fairy' in 'Teachers', acknowledged that she is learning a lot from 'Teachers' as a mother of two elementary school children. Especially, Jang Young-ran assured the passion of T-Bengers, noting, "The teachers are all sincere and put their whole heart into it." A mom from Mok-dong, Jang Young-ran, who has grown significantly in her educational perspective since Season 1, mentioned, "In the past, I would have sent my kids to academies even on weekends. Now I observe my two kids and apply the studying methods that suit them," sharing her recent updates. Here is a Q&A with 'empathy fairy' Jang Young-ran, who is deeply engaged with 'Teachers Season 2'.
1. You are participating in Season 2 following Season 1; could you please share your reason for deciding to participate and your thoughts?
- I'm just so grateful to be part of Season 2 as well. As a mother of fifth and sixth graders, I've been looking forward to 'Teachers Season 2'. I've learned a lot, and my educational perspective has changed significantly thanks to 'Teachers'. I'm so excited before filming, asking myself, 'What will I learn today?', 'What insights will we gain this time?'
2. If you were to summarize the character you are responsible for in 'Teachers' in one word, what would it be? Also, please share an aspect of your charm that you will show in Season 2.
- I would say I'm a math reject and an English reject! I couldn't really find interest in studying. I lacked confidence as well. I understand better than anyone the feelings of friends who struggle with studying and don't know how to study because I was in their shoes. I attended an academy that didn't suit my level, and I regret not being able to ask questions because I didn't understand anything. If I had discovered a suitable study method while understanding myself, I might have really found interest in studying. As a mom, I can empathize with mothers, share their frustrations, and even cry on their behalf. If I had to summarize my character in one word, it would be 'empathizing with the heart of a struggling child'. Among the MCs of 'Teachers', no one has struggled with studying like me, so they wouldn't understand that feeling. Only I can!
3. You've grown so close that it seems like you have a family-like chemistry. How would you describe your chemistry with teachers Jeong Seung-je and Jo Jeong-sik?
- Teacher Jeong Seung-je is gentle at heart, and when he cries, I find myself crying as well. Teacher Jo Jeong-sik, being younger than me, feels very friendly and approachable, like a younger sibling. Our atmosphere is so nice, and seeing how both teachers genuinely dedicate their hearts, I learn a lot from them. I have deep respect for them and am always in awe.
4. Teacher Yoon Hye-jeong has newly joined. What was your first impression of the new teacher? Did it match your expectations after the recording? If there were differences, what were they?
- She is beautiful and has a strong presence; I was really captivated at first glance. Although she looked delicate and resembled Yuri from Girls' Generation, when I saw her during the solutions, she was so impressive. She provides mental education for children and is a truly strong and beautiful teacher.
5. As an MC, what is your impression of the chemistry among the complete T-Bengers Jeong Seung-je, Jo Jeong-sik, and Yoon Hye-jeong?
- They truly form a complete group! Seeing the three makes me feel very secure. They pinpoint every wrong studying method like a hawk, and they are truly fantastic individuals who I would want to entrust my children with.
6. Who is the most memorable student throughout Season 1? I am also curious about the reason.
- There are so many, but I remember a friend who appeared in the second episode. They studied early in the morning and spent more than 10 hours a day in earnest study but were among the bottom of the class. I realized that no matter how long you sit, if it's not the right study method, it means nothing. That student, through diligence, was able to raise their grades astonishingly.
7. What have your thoughts been about studying, and how have they changed after appearing on 'Teachers'?
- My views on education and studying have completely transformed. Living in Mok-dong, I've seen many kids involved in advance learning, and in the past, I might have swept along with that trend. However, I've come to understand that there are kids who learn ahead of the pack, and I now observe my two children and apply studying methods that fit them. It's all thanks to 'Teachers'. On weekends, they play like crazy, but I think if it weren't for 'Teachers', I might have sent them to academies even on weekends.
Children learn as much as they are trusted, and they must have the will to study themselves; no matter how much you ask them on the side, they won't study if they don't want to. I have profoundly felt this. Also, studying is a long marathon; the most important thing is to keep building a solid foundation without giving up. It's not about getting 100 points but about recognizing your mistakes. Mistakes show you what you don't know and where you are lacking. So, I tell my children, 'Don't be afraid of making mistakes; accept that mistakes show you where the weaknesses lie.'
8. If you had met the complete T-Bengers Jeong Seung-je, Jo Jeong-sik, Yoon Hye-jeong, and Mi Mi Mi Nu during your exam preparation, how do you think your life would have changed?
- I truly think my life would have changed 180 degrees. I would have learned how to study and possibly studied diligently without giving up till the end. I've thought about that briefly, but I still like who I am now.
9. As anticipation builds for Season 2, could you please highlight the must-see points for students, parents, and viewers?
- Just watch it! Your life can change within a few hours. I guarantee it!
