The ruling on the damages lawsuit filed by Starship Entertainment, the agency of Ive's Jang Won-young, against A, the operator of the YouTube channel 'Anti-Fandom Refuge,' has been postponed to June.
According to the legal community on the 23rd, the 50th single judge of the Seoul Central District Court was scheduled to hold a ruling date for the 100 million won damages lawsuit filed by Starship Entertainment against A, the operator of 'Anti-Fandom Refuge,' but announced that it would postpone the ruling just before the scheduled date.
Accordingly, the first instance ruling date is scheduled to be held on June 4th.
Previously, Starship Entertainment announced a war against malicious commenters and cyber wreckers from July 2023 and has been pursuing civil and criminal lawsuits against A, the operator of 'Anti-Fandom Refuge.' A has inflicted harm by fabricating false news about various stars, including Jang Won-young. In this context, the case against 'Anti-Fandom Refuge' has been referred to the prosecution. Additionally, the 100 million won damages lawsuit filed by Jang Won-young received a favorable first instance ruling, but the operator of 'Anti-Fandom Refuge' submitted an appeal against the first instance ruling through a legal representative and requested a stay of enforcement regarding the lawsuit results. Although the case was referred for mediation during the appeal process, both parties failed to reach an agreement.
The court ruled in the second instance, stating, 'The defendant shall pay the plaintiff 50 million won,' resulting in a partial victory for the plaintiff.
