O Yun-a, being single, advised mothers raising children with developmental disabilities.
The variety show "Being Single", co-produced by SBS Plus and E Channel, aired on the 22nd, showcasing O Yun-a's life as a single mom with her son Min.
That morning, while O Yun-a's son Min was at school, she took some time just for herself. She said, "Having a child means you're not truly resting. It's very hard. No matter where you go, it's challenging and you have to care for everything, but that time can be seen as my healing time."
O Yun-a stated, "I haven't been attached to my child since he was young. Of course, this happened because I had so many shoots. I think if I had raised Min all alone, I wouldn't have been able to raise him this well."
She continued, "The times when many mothers send me DMs are these times. Mothers with children who have developmental disabilities often feel so overwhelmed that they want to give up and are exhausted. Honestly, being with a child can feel like hell. This is a problem that doesn't get resolved, so it's very distressing. For that reason, I think it's very important to share and distribute the care of the child. I did that too."
O Yun-a remarked, "Mothers suffer terribly and feel troubled because they think there is nothing they can do for their children. They can be happy somewhere away from their child, working to earn money so they can give something to their child, and when they go home, they can shower their child with love. I've seen how this results in their struggles and how the child feels the same way."
She added, "I often tell mothers, 'A mother needs to be happy for the child to be happy.'"
