The emotional character 'Wolly,' who has risen to fame on YouTube and TikTok as a 'malfluencer,' will make an appearance at an offline event to commemorate Disability Day.
On Friday, the 25th, the Dongdaemun District Office, the Association of Houl, the Association of Social Service Professionals, and the National Association of Developmentally Disabled People are jointly hosting the 'warm companionship festival for Disability Day' at the Lee & Ko Square in Cheongnyangni Station.
The special guest of this event is 'Wolly,' a popular character on social media and a therapeutic animal. Wolly will participate in various programs on the day of the event, including ▲ interaction photo zone experience ▲ walking education program ▲ pony keyring kit tactile play ▲ Cheongnyang runway participation.
The 'interaction' program with Wolly involves making eye contact and petting the neck and body areas, which is part of animal-assisted therapy (horse therapy) that aims to lower stress hormones and induce emotional stability.
Additionally, event participants will walk with Wolly, holding the leash and matching their steps, as well as experiencing behavior training such as handshakes. Wolly has also been officially designated as a textbook model and instructor animal for horse therapy in elementary, middle, and high school equestrian education programs starting in 2025.
At one side of the event site, a 'pony keyring kit' experience booth will conduct tactile play and crafting related to horses, helping with cognitive and sensory development. Additionally, a channel introducing 'Wollyflop' content and character merchandise will be set up to attract fans' attention.
The highlight is the 'Cheongnyang runway' held in the afternoon. Disabled models, Wolly Therapy representative Lee Ji-young, malfluencer Wolly, and Dongdaemun District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung will walk the runway together wearing eco-friendly floral costumes made from carbon-neutral resources.
Lee Ji-young, representative of Wolly Therapy, noted, "I hope this festival, where people with and without disabilities and animal characters walk together, will spread inclusive values in society."
Malfluencer Wolly has emerged as a content icon that conveys healing, education, and social impact, going beyond being just a character.
"The warm companionship festival" will be held on April 25, 2025, starting at 10 a.m. at Lee & Ko Square in Cheongnyangni Station. Participation in the event is open to everyone, and the interaction program with Wolly can be accessed both online and offline.
