The 'New Recruit' first dormitory has become closer.
In the episodes 5 and 6 of the Genie TV original drama 'New Recruit' (directed by Min Jin-ki and Jo Je-uk, written by Yoon Gi-young and Kang Go-eun, based on the work by Jang Ppi-jju, planned by KT Studio Genie, produced by A2Z Entertainment and Story Island), broadcast on the 21st and 22nd, the scenes of Moon Bitnari (played by Kim Yo-han) navigating the challenging life of a private alongside the DAEWON of the first dormitory were portrayed. As the DAEWON of the first dormitory became even closer, episode 6 recorded a nationwide rating of 2.6%, surpassing its own record. (Based on Nielsen Korea paid platforms)
After being discharged, Choi Il-gu (played by Nam Tae-woo) learned that Kim Sang-hoon (played by Lee Chung-gu) and Seong Yun-mo (played by Kim Hyun-kyu) had resolved their long-standing bad karma. It seemed like peace had finally arrived in the first dormitory with the exemption of Seong Yun-mo's service period, but it was short-lived. The culprit this time was Moon Bitnari again. Because she returned the laundry entrusted to her by Choi Il-gu with tissues, she not only messed up the military uniform but also broke the washing machine. The DAEWON, who had to handwash their clothes, all blamed her, while Moon Bitnari's panic symptoms began to worsen.
The incident did not end there. While he was out with Park Min-seok for recycling, he encountered an unexplained fire when he was briefly left alone. What caught Moon Bitnari's frozen eyes was the silhouette of someone beyond the flames. After a brief disturbance, Company Commander Jo Baek-ho (played by Oh Dae-hwan), who read the statement, suspected that instead of believing Moon Bitnari, he thought that she might have set the fire out of anger after receiving harsh words from Park Min-seok. It took no time for rumors to spread among the DAEWON that Moon Bitnari had intentionally started the fire due to bullying from Park Min-seok.
Overnight, Park Min-seok became the center of rumors and visited Moon Bitnari, who was filled with rage. Moon Bitnari pleaded, "Can't you believe me just once?" but Park Min-seok turned away, saying, "I've never seen someone as useless as you." Unable to endure the pouring criticism, Moon Bitnari was distressed. It was then that Seong Yun-mo came to her. Seong Yun-mo, sitting next to Moon Bitnari under the pretense of taking a break, awkwardly offered comfort, saying, "I'm sorry. I think I wasn't able to take care of you properly because I was too busy adjusting. Let's have some fun once we get through this, okay? Let's hang in there a little longer until then."
That day, Moon Bitnari was set to do night duty with Choi Il-gu. For some reason, Choi Il-gu casually asked about her well-being and began talking about himself, saying, "That's just how privates are. I wonder how it would have been if I weren't here, as I feel like I just don't fit in. Even when I try to do well, I can't." In fact, Choi Il-gu had heard through Seong Yun-mo during the day what he was trying to do. He continued, "I hope you remember this moment while serving in the military. If you have a junior experiencing the same concerns when you become a senior, I hope you can be the first to understand them. I feel sorry that I couldn't do that," he sincerely apologized. Moon Bitnari felt a long-buried emotional knot loosen.
The DAEWON of the first dormitory became even closer. With the final leave approaching, Choi Il-gu got a disposable camera to create memories with the DAEWON and enjoy their last moments together. Excitedly waiting for the outing training, Choi Il-gu unexpectedly faced a challenge. News had come that missiles had been launched along the eastern coast. With the military in a state of emergency and leave restrictions in place, just 5 days away from becoming a civilian, Choi Il-gu lamented, saying, "Missiles in my last year!" Meanwhile, amidst the combat readiness training that unfolded, Moon Bitnari experienced severe anxiety and difficulty breathing. His collapse on the floor heightened the tension and piqued curiosity for the next story. 'New Recruit' has only 2 episodes remaining with high anticipation.
