Director Lim Dae-hee praised Jung Ji-so for her performance, which was consumed by the devil.
On the morning of the 23rd, an interview with Director Lim Dae-hee, who directed the film 'Holy Night: Demon Hunters,' took place at a cafe on Samcheong-ro in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
'Holy Night: Demon Hunters' (written and directed by Lim Dae-hee, distributed by Lotte Entertainment, produced by Big Punch Pictures and Nova Film) is an occult action film where a team of darkness troubleshooters, 'Holy Night' team Bough (played by Ma Dong-seok), Sharon (played by Seo-hyun), and Kim-gun (played by Lee Da-wit) take down a group of evil in a city engulfed in chaos by a cult that worships evil. This is Director Lim Dae-hee's debut feature commercial film.
After achieving box office success every spring with 'The Outlaws 2' (12.69 million), 'The Outlaws 3' (10.69 million), and 'The Outlaws 4' (11.50 million) from May 2022 to April 2024, Ma Dong-seok's new work is expected to be a strong hit. He participated in planning, production, and starred in the film, marking his first occult action. Additionally, the delightful team chemistry between Ma Dong-seok, Seo-hyun, and Lee Da-wit, along with the refreshing and exhilarating exorcism action, is expected to drive ticket sales, and ahead of its release, it topped the real-time reservation rate based on the integrated computerized ticketing system.
Director Lim Dae-hee noted, "I would like to take this opportunity to thank actress Jung Ji-so. I was so grateful that I almost cried when I saw the editing version after shooting," and added, "The other actors in our film are the same in that there is a boundary between reality and fantasy. If we go too far into the fantasy, it could become childish. The actors must sincerely perform to gain empathy even for the fantasy elements."
Jung Ji-so performed passionately as her character, Eun-seo, who is consumed by a powerful devil and becomes trapped within her body. She executed remarkable transformations in voice, expression, and overall visual appearance.
The director said, "In terms of directing, Jung Ji-so acted without watching existing occult genres and expressed herself without reference. I also asked her to feel free to do as she wishes." He added, "Actually, acting as if possessed by the devil is not easy. I was cautious because I thought if I directed incorrectly, it might just replicate what has been done in existing works. However, Jung Ji-so put in a lot of thought and expressed it well."
Regarding Jung Ji-so's devil voice, the director praised her, stating, "I added a bit of howling, but the basic voice tone was all her own. I only included a bit of howling, and other than that, she created it through her acting. She transformed it without mixing work."
Meanwhile, 'Holy Night: Demon Hunters' is set to be released on the 30th.
